    JUTZI. - Bro. Benjamin Jutzi was born in East Zorra, Oxford Co., Ont., May 14, 1877; died Feb. 10, 1918, at Kitchener and Waterloo Hospital where he underwent an operation for gallstone and appendicitis, of which he never rallied. He united with the Amish Mennonite Church in his early youth. On Feb. 27, 1908, he was united in matrimony with Sister Lizzie Jantzi, who now survives him with one daughter. Bro. Ben took a deep interest in church work. He was superintendent of the Amish Mennonite Sunday school of Wilmot, for which he had ideal talents. He was laid to rest Feb. 14, near St. Agatha, followed by a large concourse of relatives and friends. Peace be to his ashes.

    Schwartzentruber, Laura, daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Jantzi) Jutzi, was born at St. Agatha, Ont., Jan. 1, 1909; died at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital, March 25, 1962; aged 53 y. 2 m. 24 d. On June 1, 1927, she was married to Simon Schwartzentruber, who survives. Also surviving are 6 sons (Arthur, Bridgeport; Nyle, Baden; Clare, Vancouver, B.C.; Elverne, Preston; Simon, Jr., and Wayne, Kitchener), 6 daughters (Leona-Mrs. Noah Lichty, Monetville; Ellen-Mrs. Robert Messner, Guelph; Erma, Kitchener; and Reta, Ruth, and Arlene, at home), 10 grandchildren, and 2 stepbrothers. Two sons preceded her in death. She was a member of the Baden Church. Funeral services were held at the Steinman A.M. Church, March 28, with David Groh and Orland Gingerich officiating; interment in Geiger Mennonite Cemetery.

    BADEN \endash Mrs. Simon Schwartzentruber, 53, of Baden died Sunday at the K-W Hospital.

    Born at St. Agatha, Jan 1, 1909, she was the former Laura Jutzi, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Jutzi. She had been a resident of Baden for the past five years, and a member of the Baden Mennonite Church and president of the Women's Missionary and Service Auxiliary.

    Surviving besides her husband are six sons, Arthur of [Bridge- ], Nyle of Baden, Clare of Vancouver, Elverne of Preston, and Simon Jr. and Wayne of Kitchener; six daughters, Mrs. Noah (Leona) Lichty of Monetteville, Mrs. Robert (Ellen) Messner of Guelph, Erma of Kitchener and Rita, Ruth and Arlene, all of Baden; two step brothers, Peter Steinman of Baden and David Steinman of Vineland, and 10 grandchildren.

    She was predeceased by two sons and two step-sisters and one step-brother.

    The body will be at the Futher-Omand Funeral Home, New Hamburg, until Wednesday noon. The funeral will be conducted at the Steinman Mennonite Church Wednesday at 3 p.m. Interment will be in the Geiger Mennonite Cemetery. Bishop Orland Gingerich and Rev. David Groh will officiate.

    SCHWARTZENTRUBER, Arthur After a full life, Art passed away at Lisaard House on Monday, November 9, 2015 at the age of 87. Art was the eldest of 14 children of the late Simon and Laura (Jutzi) Schwartzentruber. Beloved husband of Pauline (Martin) for 61 years, loving father of Tom Schwartzentruber and his wife Nadine, and proud grandpa of Michael and Laura. He is survived by his brothers Nyle (Jean), Baden; Wayne (Debbie), London; and his sisters Leona Lichty, Monetville; Reta (Vern) Baker, Meaford; Ruth (Bob) Boettger, Kitchener; Arlene (Greg) Naumann, Baden; sisters-in-law Noella, Sudbury; Janet, Vancouver; and many nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by brothers Ray, Glen, Simon Jr., Elverne, Clare; sisters Ellen (Messner) and Erma (Tucker); and in-laws Noah Lichty, Roy Tucker, Glen Cole, Joan Schwartzentruber, Gale Schwartzentruber. Art retired from The Canadian Blower and Forge with more than 30 years of service. He was an accomplished handy man who enjoyed wood working, fishing, and gardening. Art was also a self-taught musician and played multiple instruments. Cremation has taken place. Art's family will receive relatives and friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Saturday, November 14, 2015 from 10-10:45 a.m., followed by a memorial service in the Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. A reception will immediately follow the service in the funeral home's Fireside Room. A private family interment at Bridgeport Memorial Cemetery, Kitchener will follow the reception.

    SCHWARTZENTRUBER, Nyle

    After a full life, Nyle passed away peacefully at Grand River Freeport Hospital on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Jean (Jackson) for 67 years, loving father of Brenda Thom and her husband Bob, proud papa of Lana Thom and fiancé Dave Bartlett and Chris Thom and his wife Deb.

    Nyle was born in Baden the 3rd oldest of 14 children of the late Simon and Laura (Jutzi) Schwartzentruber. He is survived by his brother; Wayne (Debbie) of London; and his sisters Leona Lichty of Monetville; Reta (Vern) Baker of Meaford; Ruth (Bob) Boettger of Kitchener; Arlene (Greg) Naumann of Baden; sisters-in-law Noella of Sudbury; Janet of Vancouver, Pauline of Heidelberg, brother-in-law Warden Jackson of Manitoba; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

    He was predeceased by brothers Ray, Glen, Simon Jr., Elverne, Clare, Arthur, sisters Ellen (Messner) and Erma (Tucker); and in-laws Noah Lichty, Roy Tucker, Glen Cole, Andy King, Joan Schwartzentruber, Gale Stewart, Mary King, and Teresa Jackson.

    Nyle retired from The Canadian Blower and Forge with more than 40 years of service. He was an excellent handy man able to fix almost anything. He enjoyed his fishing trips up north, snowmobiling and working on cars, but his love was for family.

    Nyle's family will receive relatives and friends at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Tuesday, July 25, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Wilmot Mennonite Church, 2995 Bleams Rd., on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Susan Alison Jones officiating. Interment at Wilmot Mennonite Church Cemetery. A reception will follow.

    Schwartzentruber.-Glen, son of Simon and Laura (Jutzi) Schwartzentruber, was born at Baden, Ont., April 26, 1931; died July 21, 1947; aged 16 y. 2 m. 25 d. He met his death, along with Ray Snyder and Ernest Timothy Roth, in a railway crossing accident on the farm of Samuel S. Roth, near Baden, Ont. Surviving are his parents, one grandmother (Mrs. Lizzie Steinman, of Baden), one grandfather (Joseph K. Schwartzentruber, Petersburg, Ont.), 6 brothers (Arthur, Nyle, Clare, Elverne, Simon Jr., and Wayne), 6 sisters (Leona, Ellen, Irma, Reta, Ruth Ann, and Arlene), and many other relatives and friends. At the age of eleven he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour and united with the Baden Mennonite Church. He was a cheerful, consistent Christian. Funeral services were held at the home on July 24, in charge of Peter Nafziger, followed by joint services at the Geiger Mennonite Church, New Hamburg, Ont., in charge of James Martin, Osiah Horst, and Curtis Cressman. Interment was made in a double grave in the adjoining cemetery.

    ERNEST ROTH, GLEN SCHWARTZENTRUBER, RAYMOND SNYDER

    Kitchener, July 22 - Motoring to Au Gres, Michigan yesterday to attend the funeral of a brother, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Roth, of Baden, were reached as they prepared to cross the border at Sarnia and informed their son, Ernest, 21, had been killed with two friends in a railway crossing crash near their home. Today they arranged for the funeral of their young son. The other victims were Glen Schwartzentruber, 16, and Raymond Snyder, 11. All were Mennonites. The three were killed instantly when struck by a Canadian National Railways train in charge of Edward Milner, Toronto, conductor, and William Flint, Toronto, engineer, on a crossing leading to the Samuel Roth farm. They were returning from a field, where they had been dusting potatoes. Roth, who was married to the former Mildred Roth last September, also is survived by his parents, one brother, Calvin, and two sisters, Agness and Mrs. Rufus Bender, Baden. Schwartzentruber, a son of Mr. And Mrs. Simon Schwartzentruber, is survived by his parents, six brothers, Arthur, Nyle, Clare, Elverne, Simon and Waybe, and six sisters, Leona, Ellen, Erma, Rita, Ruth and Arlene, all at home. Snyder is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Snyder; a brother, Vernus, at hoem, and three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Bechtel, Mrs. Ethel Roth and Ruth Snyder, all of Baden.

    SCHWARTZENTRUBER, Elverne - Peacefully, with his family by his side, on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Laurentian Hospital. Lovingly known as "Schwartzie," Vern went home to the Lord and is now free of pain. Vern, in his 74th year, is the beloved husband of Noëlla of Monetville. Dear father of Terry and Lynn of Cambridge, Sheryl and Dave Sabola of Cambridge, Krystal and Rock Morin of Noëlville; step-daughter, Julie Pitre and Jose Beites of Sudbury; step-son, Joey and Andrée Pitre of Noëlville.     Simon Schwartzentruber Jr. of 3189 King St. E., died Sunday at Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, after a lengthy illness. He was 33.
    Mr. Schwartzentruber was born in Baden, Oct. 23, 1935, a son of Mr. and the late Mrs. Simon Schwartzentruber Sr., but lived most of his life in the Twin City area.

    He was a member of the Waterloo Pentecostal Tabernacle and was employed by the University of Waterloo for the past four years as a technician.

    Surviving besides his father, his step mother, the former Laura Jutzi of Baden, and his wife, the former Beverley (Gale) Cook, are one daughter, Holly Elizabeth, at home; five brothers, Elverne of Preston, Wayne of Kitchener, Arthur of RR 3, Waterloo, Nyle of Baden, Clare of Kamloops, B.C.; six sisters, Mrs. Noah (Leona) Li cliti of Monteville, Mrs. Robert (Ellen) Messenger of Guelph, Mrs. Roy (Erma) Tucker, Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Boettger and Mrs. Gregory (Arlene) Nauman, all of Kitchener, and Reta Schwartzentruber, in Oregon.

    The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where services will be held in the chapel Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. John C. Shrier officiating. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.
