    Notes:

Dr. David John Reinhardt, a most genuine and gentle soul, has passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on October 26, 2023.

Left with loving memories and celebrating his life are his devoted wife Karen (nee Boegel) and his children Lee Reinhart, Dr. Chris Reinhardt (Coleen), Kirsten Raithby (Daniel) as well as his grandchildren Elyse Reinhardt, Wesley Reinhardt, Lauren Raithby and Grant Raithby. He is also remembered by his brother Michael. J. Reinhardt.

David is predeceased by his parents Jerome and Lillian, his brother Philip (in infancy), Ann Mazur (sister) Philip and Olga Boegel (parents in law) and Joanne Boegel (sister-in-law)

Many moons ago, when they were just tots in strollers, David and Karen met for the first time when their mothers sat down to enjoy a coffee at the same Woolworths lunch counter in downtown Kitchener. Many "sock hop dances" and a few years later, David successfully proposed (done unexpectedly in the side doorway of Karens house just before a bowling date).... then married his high- school sweetheart on a beautiful fall day: October 13, 1962, at St. Anne's Church, Kitchener and they just recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.

David graduated from the University of Toronto School of Pharmacy in 1962. Following in his father Jerome's footsteps, he successfully ran the family business: Reinhardt Pharmacy in Kitchener. Two years later, he felt the calling of family medicine. He graduated from University of Toronto School of Medicine in 1970 and he practiced as a family physician for 46 years until his retirement. He was most happy when bringing life into this world by delivering babies and taking care of many wonderful families and patients. Even though his practice was a busy and thriving one, he never seemed to miss any important events for his three children and without fail, never missed presenting his beloved wife with a bouquet of fresh flowers each and every Saturday morning.

Family was David's everything and he always put them first.

In retirement he very much enjoyed working and conversing with the retired priests at Resurrection Manor and always looked forward to his weekly visits spent tending to their medical needs while they tended to his spiritual ones. Some wonderful friendships were formed, never to be forgotten.

The summer of 1984, he drove the family clear across Canada to the west coast, down to the Mexican boarder and zig zagged up through the USA all while living in a motorhome. The trip took 2 ½ months and David very proudly introduced his family to every single tourist trap known to man during this time.

In later years, one of David and Karens favourite places to visit and unwind together was the Grand Floridian Resort in magical Disneyworld. Each time they went, they loved the feeling of being carefree kids again and just leaving the world behind.

For many years, David happily participated in his community in various ways. He was a lecturer for the marriage preparation course sponsored by the Catholic churches in Waterloo Region. He was a member of the Family Life committee of the local separate school board and Catholic Youth Organization. David served his community hospitals as a member of the Medical Advisory Board & Chairman of the Record Audit Committee. He was a longstanding member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee as well. One of his favorite accomplishments was participating as a member of the Board of Directors: Ontario Division of The Canadian Society of Clinical Hypnosis.

One of Davids biggest passions was photography, and he produced many marvelous pictures that still grace the walls of his and Karens home. He also thoroughly enjoyed Ballroom dancing for many years with his dear wife Karen. In hopes of perfecting their dance steps for each weeks' class, they spent countless hours twirling around the garage floor or in the street at the front of their house.

Remembering our dad, is to remember some of the famous phrases he so often used when an appointment or visit came to an end, phrases like:

"Don't have a good day, have a better day!"

    and

"My day has been made better now that I have seen you!"

Loving thanks to Lee Reinhardt for her tireless support, care, and outstanding nursing skills while caring for her dad. Thank you to Pam & Penny and the whole nursing team from Heritage House for supporting Lee, thus enabling her to dedicate all her time to her father.

Special thank you to Dr. Vitou, Dr. Yew, Dr. Mee and to Terry Nosal RN (Palliative Care Specialty) for their truly wonderful medical care. A big thanks to Jason & Kevin from the Region of Waterloo Paramedic Service for their gentle and swift attention in a time of need. A sincere thanks to Care Partners: Sandra, Anna, Marlene, and Cookie for their loving care of David. And last but certainly not least, a most heartfelt thank you to Father Aiello, Brother Ed Hohenadel & all our friends at Resurrection Manor for their friendship and spiritual care.

"Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. So loved, so missed, so very dear."

    David's family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467.
