    BOYLE, Luella - On December 23, 2006, at the age of 101. Lue was born on May 22, 1905, in Waterloo Township to Sarah Heckendorn and Allan Groff and raised by Gilda Groff, Allan Groff's second wife. She was sister to Doris Adye-White (Mississauga), Ruth Doepel (deceased), Ken Groff (Vancouver), Norman Groff (deceased), and Frank Groff (deceased). Although she and her late husband Harry Boyle loved to travel, they made their home in Kitchener on Van Camp Ave. Harry died in 1981 after a long life. Harry had spent his working life at Goodrich and had served with the South Waterloo Overseas 111th Battalion of the Western Ontario Regiment of the Canadian Expeditionary Force and was wounded at Passchendaele. Lue had been a member of the Highland Baptist Church and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church as well as a member of the Tommy Atkins Chapter I.O.D.E. She loved golf and played many rounds at the Grand River Golf Club in Bridgeport. Bridge was another of her passions and although they had no children, there was always a dog in the family. During her lifetime she did a considerable amount of volunteer work. Cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shown by donations to a charity of one's choice.

    GROFF, Frank (The Bridgeport General) -- At K-W Hospital, on Tuesday, January 10, 1978, Frank Groff of 559 Lancaster St, W., Kitchener, where he was born and had been a lifetime resident. In his youth he was a caddy at the Grand River Golf Club, and later worked McBrine Baggage Company, and for the past 26 years was an unpaid school crossing guard in Bridgeport. Son of the late Allan Groff and the former Gilda Saltzberry. Surviving are two brothers, Norman of Elmira and Kenneth of Vancouver B.C.; two sisters, Doris (Mrs. Stewart Adye-White) of Streetsville, and Mrs. Ruth Doepel of Kitchener. Friends may call at the Grihn Funeral Home, 178 Queen St. S., Kitchener, after noon today. Funeral and committal service at the funeral home on Friday at 2 p.m. Rev William Wilkinson of Emmanuel United Church, Bridgeport, and Canon E. Ralph Adye of Weston, officiating. Interment Bridgeport Cemetery.

Surviving are one brother (Kenneth), and 2 sisters (Doris Adye-White and Luella Boyle). He was a member of Elmira Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Feb. 13, in charge of Ray Brubacher and Ken Bechtel; interment in Elmira Cemetery.
