Steinman - On the 28th of Nov. 1903, near New Hamburg, Waterloo Co., Ont., Christian Steinman, aged 52 Y., 17 D. He fell through the barn floor on the 27th, and at first felt no evil effects from the fall, but soon complained of pain in his head. Growing worse, a physician was called, who pronounced the case fatal, because of a ruptured blood vessel in the head. He became unconscious and the same evening after being speechless for some time, and passed away early next morning. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Jutzi) Steinman*, two sons and six daughters**, also three brothers and five sisters and many friends, all of whom deeply mourn his death. Buried Dec. 1. Funeral services at the house by John Nafzinger and at the M.H. by Chr. Zehr and Jacob M. Bender. Peace to his ashes.

Steinmann.- John, son of the late Christian and Maria (Honderich) Steinmann, was born near Baden, Ont., Aug. 18, 1853; died at his home in Wellesley, Ont., on Feb. 18, 1942; aged 88 y. 6 m. He united with the Amish Mennonite Church in his youth and remained faithful to the end. On Sept. 18, 1877, he was united in marriage to Susannah Gascho and together they shared the joys and sorrows of lile for more than 64 years. He leaves his aged companion, 3 sons, 4 daughters, 13 grandchildren, 3 sisters, and many relatives and friends.

Retired Wellesley District Farmer Passes

John Steinman, 88, of Wellesley, died last Wednesday, night at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born near Baden on Aug. 18, 1853. He was a well known farmer of the 5th Line, Wellesley, retiring 25 years ago. He was a member of the 3rd line A.-M. Church.

Surviving are his wife, nee Susannah Gascho, to whom he was married Sept. 18, 1877, three sons, four daughters, three sisters and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Saturday from the residence to the 3rd Line Church and interment was made in the adjoining cemetery. Bishop Jacob Lichti of Wellesley was in charge.

Steinman - Daniel H Steinman was born in Waterloo Co., Ont., April 26, 1857; died Feb. 22, 1935; aged 77 y. 9 m. 27 d. He had been ailing, more or less, over a period of two years. He was received into the Wilmot A.M. Church by water baptism on June 21, 1874, in which faith he remained to the end. On Nov. 6, 1883, he was united in holy matrimony to Barbara Gascho. Eleven children were born to them - 5 sons and 6 daughters, of whom 4 sons and 2 daughters predeceased him. On Dec. 10, 1893, he was ordained to the office of deacon, and on Nov. 3, 1894, to the ministry. On July 4, 1898, he was ordained to the office of bishop, in which office he served the Wilmot A.M. congregation as long as health permitted, and also in the neighboring congregations when necessary. In his ministry as bishop, he baptized 361 persons and performed 151 marriage ceremonies. He leaves his beloved companion, 2 sons, 4 daughters, 21 grandchildren, 1 brother, and 3 sisters. Funeral services were conducted at the Steinman Church near Baden on Feb. 26, by Bro. D. Lebold at the home, and by Bro. Nevin Bender of Delaware, Bro. Chris Schultz, and Bro. D. Iutzi. Interment in adjoining cemetery.

Spenler.-Elizabeth (Steinman) Spenler, dau. of Christian and Mary Steinman, was born near Baden, Ont., Aug. 19, 1860; died Nov. 9, 1929; aged 69 y. 2 m. 17 d. Her death came very unexpectedly, the cause of which was heart failure. She passed away peacefully a short time after retiring as usual. The only notice given was a few short gasps for breath. In youth she accepted Christ as her Savior and was received into the Amish Mennonite Church. She remained a faithful member until death. On March 19, 1879, she was united in marriage to Pre. Peter Spenler. She leaves her husband, 2 sons, 8 daughters (Christian, Katie Bast, Mary Poole, Lizzie Beachy, Fanny Yutzi, Peter, Barbara Beachy, Leah Beller, Lydia, and Bena), 34 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild. Two sons and one daughter preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at the home by John Garber and at the Mornington A. M. church by John Gascho and Jacob Leichty. Texts, 1 Cor. 12; 11 Cor. 5; Jno. 5: 24-30. Interment in adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Noah J. Bender

Mrs. Noah J. Bender, 79, of East Zorra Township, died at her home on Saturday, January 11.

She was the former Magdalene Steinman, and was born in Wilmot Township in 1889, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Steinman. She was a member of East Zorra Mennonite Church, 16th line.

She was married to Noah Bender in 1911. He died in 1954. Surviving are four sons, Delton and Nelson, both of East Zorra; Ivan and Armand both of South Easthope Township; two brothers, Simeon and Emmanuel, both of Baden; three sisters, Mrs. Benjamin (Katie) Gingerich, New Hamburg; Mrs. John (Annie) Gingerich, South Easthope, and Mrs. John (Christina) Wagler, North Easthope Township; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held at the East Zorra Mennonite Church on Tuesday of last week. Burial took place in the church cemetery.

Steinman; born in New Hamburg 80 years ago; dear mother of Rev. Orland and Alvin, both of Route 2, Baden, Marie (Mrs. Ohmer Yantzi) of Route 2, Tavistock, Martha (Mrs. Gerald Swartzentruber) of Route 1, Wellesley; sister of Emmanuel of Baden, Christina (Mrs. John B. Wagler) of Route 1, Shakespeare; also survived by 21 grandchildren; she was a member of Steinman Mennonite Church; predeceased by her husband Dec. 9, 1962 and by one brother and six sisters. Friends may call at the Bruce J. Omand Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg, where the family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. At noon Saturday the remains will be removed to the Steinman Mennonite Church for the funeral service at 2: 00.

On Saturday May 21, 1983, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Noah Steinmann of Nithview Home, New Hamburg, formerly of Wellesley. Noah was born in Wellesley township, 87 years ago.

He was the son of the late John Steinmann and the late Susanna Gascho; he was a member of the Mapleview Mennonite Church and was a feed merchant in Wellesley, retiring several years ago.

Beloved brother of Enos Steinmann of Kitchener; also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Daniel and by four sisters, Katie and Barbara Steinmann and Mary (Mrs. John Schmidt) and Veronica (Mrs. David Bast).

Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, Wellesley on Sunday. At noon Monday, May 23, removal was made to the Mapleview Mennonite Church, for the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Alvion Leis, Rev. Glen Jantzi and Rev. Alan Nafziger officiated.

Joseph Steinman

Joseph Z. Steinman of 341 Bleams Rd., W., New Hamburg, died Monday at Stratford Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 86.

He was born in Wilmot Township, March 19, 1883, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Steinman. He was a member of the 16th line East Zorra Mennonite Church.

He had farmed in South Easthope Township for 26 years and had been a resident of New Hamburg since 1943.

He is survived by his wife the former Magdelina Brennaman, whom he married in East Zorra Township Nov. 27, 1913.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Reuben (Florence) Kennel of New Hamburg and Miss Adeline Steinman, both of New Hamburg; one brother, Ezra of Lancaster, N.Y., three sisters, Mrs. Jacob (Mattie) Albrecht of Poole; Mrs. Jacob (Katie) Moser of Crogan, N.Y., Miss Mary Steinman of Kitchener, three grandchildren.

He was predeceased by six brothers.

Funeral service was held at the 16th line East Zorra Mennonite church at 2:30 p.m. last Thursday, Bishop Henry Yantzi officiating. Burial was in the adjoining church cemetery.

The Bruce J. Omand Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Friends may call at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, Wellesley, Friday evening from 7 to 9 and Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, noon Sunday the remains will be removed to the Poole Mennonite Church for the funeral service at 2: 30. Rev. Amsey Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be shown by contributions to the Western Ontario Mennonite Mission Board.

Mrs. Moses Erb

WELLESLEY-Mrs. Moses Erb of 76 Brown St. died Friday at her home. She was 73.

The former Mary Steinman was born in Wilmot Township. She was a member of Maple View Mennonite Church and of the church sewing circle.

Surviving besides her husband are three sons, Alvin of RR 1, Gadshill, Milton of Wellesley, Harold of RR 2, Wellesley; three daughters, Mrs. Earl (Barbara) Paddington of Shakespeare, Mrs. Milton (Eva) Kuepfer of RR 1, Newton, Mrs. Norman (Wilma) Kuepfer of RR 1, Linwood; two brothers, Daniel of Baden, David of New Hamburg; two sisters, Mrs. Amos Leis and Barbara Steiman, both of Wellesley; and 21 grandchildren. Mrs. Erb was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers.

The body is at the Futher Brothers Funeral Home until noon, Monday, when removal will be made to Maple View Church for services at 2 p.m. with Rev. Christian O. Erb officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society will be accepted as expressions of sympathy.

Mrs. Moses Erb, 73, Wellesley, died Friday at her home.

She was born in Wilmot Township, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel H. Steinman. She was the former Mary Steinman. She was a member of the Maple View Mennonite Church.

Surviving are her husband; three sons, Alvin, RR l, Gadshill; Milton, Wellesley, Harold, RR 2, Wellesley, three daughters, Mrs. Earl (Barbara Leona) Padington, Shakespeare, Mrs. Milton (Eva) Kuepfer, RR 1, Newton; Mrs. Norman (Wilma) Kuepfer; RR 1, Linwood; two brothers, Daniel, Baden, David, New Hamburg, two sisters, Mrs. Amos (Nancy) Leis, and Miss Barbara, both of Wellesley; 21 grandchildren.

Futher Brothers Funeral Home of Wellesley was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral Services were held Monday at Maple View Mennonite Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Died-The sad death took place at her home on Snyder's Road on Wednesday of Miss Sarah Steinman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel H. Steinman at the age of 26 years, 1 month and 9 days. She had been ill for about a year, but bore here suffering with patience and Christian fortitude. Her death is deeply regretted by a large circle of relatives and friends. Besides her sorrowing parents she leaves four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. David Boshart, Pinehill, Mrs. Moses Erb and Mrs. Amos Leis , Wellesley, Barbara and Daniel, at home and David, of New Hamburg. The funeral will take place on Saturday forenoon at 9.30 o'clock to the Steinman A.-M. church of which the deceased was a devoted member. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery on the Steinman homestead. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of their many friends in their sad loss.

MRS. CATHERINE BAST

BADEN, Oct. 8. - Mrs. Catherine Bast, widow of the late Jacob Bast, died yesterday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Brenneman. She was in her 63rd year and had been ill for three years. Born in Ontario she was married in 1907. She attended the Mennonite Church.

Surviving are three sons, Norman and Elmer of Loweville, N.Y., and Emmanuel of Bloomingdale; two daughters, Mrs. M. Bender (Emma), Wellesley, and Lydiania, London. One brother and five sisters also survive.

Private service will be held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Brenneman at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow followed by a public service in the Amish Mennonite Church, near Baden, at 2. Burial will take place in Amish Mennonite Steinman's Cemetery. The remains are resting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Brenneman.

NAFZIGER, DANIEL - Of the Brunner Nursing Home, formerly of Wellesley. Passed away Sunday at his home. Born in Mornington Township, 88 years ago.

A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Nafziger, he had farmed in Wilmot township, retiring to Wellesley in 1958. Member of the Maple View Mennonite Church. Father of Elmer of Waterloo, Emerson of Route 1, Tavistock, Floyd of Route 1, Breslau, Leonard of Conestogo, Vera (Mrs. Harold Wismer) of Wellesley, Edna (Mrs. Laverne Zehr) of Bright, Betty (Mrs. Gerald Steffler) and Dorothy (Mrs. Alvin Martin) both of Waterloo, Erma (Mrs. Lyle Coverett) of Tutinga, Cal.; dear brother of Samuel and Menno, both of Brunner, Amos of Wellesley, Solomon of Carthage, N.Y., and Mary Nafziger of Brunner; also survived by 34 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife, the former Nancy Erb, in 1974; also by one son, Vernon and one daughter, Alice; also by one brother and one sister.

Friends may call at the Futher Bros Funeral Home, Wellesley where the family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. At noon Wednesday, September 15, the remains will be removed to the Maple View Mennonite Church for the service at 2:30 Rev. Alvin Leis and Rev. Jacob Rose officiating. Interment will follow in the Maple View Mennonite Cemetery.

Born at Brunner, on February 4, 1891, the former Katherine Nafziger, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Nafziger.

She was a member of the Cedar Grove Amish-Mennnite Church. Her husband, Christian R. Gerber, died in 1966.

Surviving are three sons, Valentine, R.R. 1, Brunner; Lloyd, R.R. 1, Millbank; Roy, R.R. 1, Wellesley; four daughters, Mrs. Allan (Clara) Kuepfer, Millbank; Mrs. Benjamin (Marion) Kuepfer, .R. 1, Millbank; Mrs. Onias D (Emma) Martin, R.R. 3, Wallenstein; Mrs. Stanley (Katherine) Schellenberger, Sebringville; five brothers, Daniel, Wellesley; Samuel, Brunner; Amos, R.R. 2, Wellesley; Solomon, Carthage, N.Y.; Menno, R.R. 1 Brunner; a sister, Miss Mary, Brunner; 30 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Beloved wife of the late Floyd Steinmann who predeceased her in 1973. Loving mother of Barb and Bruce Schumm, Brian and Karen Steinmann all of New Hamburg. Heart attack killed driver, autopsy reveals

An autopsy has revealed that Nelson Bender, 53, of RR1, Tavistock, died of a heart attack while sitting at the steering wheel of his one-ton truck near Wellesley last Thursday. Firemen, called to a truck burning in a ditch just south of the village, said the smoke was so thick they didn't realize there was a person in the cab. Fire Chief Harold Leis said something overheated in the truck because the dashboard area was "burned right out". Bender, who had worked for Tavistock coal merchant Robert Rudy for about 12 years, had just delivered a load of coal to a customer near Wellesley.

Heart attack blamed for death

WELLESLEY - An autopsy has shown an RR 1 Tavistock man died of hypersensitive cardio-vascular disease in his truck near hear Thursday.
Nelson Bender, 53, was found dead in a burning truck at about 12: 45 p.m. just south of Wellesley. Waterloo Regional Police are investigating cause of the blaze. However, police had earlier said the engine was running after the accident had occurred.

Beloved husband of Ruby Wagler whom he married May 28, 1955. Loving father of Laura Anne Gingerich and Ivan Huska of Vancouver, BC, Sam and Mary Lou Gingerich of Baden, Heidi and Gord McHugh of Oakville and Katherine Hyde of Kitchener. Sadly missed by grandchildren Shael and Sage Huska, Brandon and Ben Gingerich, Aaron, Nolan and Ethan McHugh and Jonathan and Justin Hyde. CARL GASCHO 1925 - 2008

Carl died peacefully, on Wednesday evening, October 15, 2008, surrounded by his loving family, at Chateau Gardens in Elmira. He celebrated his 83rd birthday on October 3rd. He is the beloved husband of Esther (Bingeman) - they were married for 52 years. Carl will be lovingly remembered by his four children, Ruth and her husband Lindsay Duffield of Unionville, David and his wife Patty Gascho of Kitchener, Jane and her husband Jim Schuett of Kitchener and Rob and his wife Angie Gascho of San Diego, CA. Carl's 11 grandchildren were very special to him, Jordan and Christian Duffield, Jonathan, Jamie and Jenna Gascho, Ryan and Bonnie, Christie, Jennifer and Richard Schuett, Audrey and TJ Gascho. He will also be fondly remembered by Roy and Martha Gascho of New Holland, PA, Lawrence and Jane Bingeman of Kitchener, Dora Bingeman of Kitchener and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Melinda (Steinman) and Emanuel Gascho; sister-in-law, Grace Gascho and brother-in-law, Jonas Bingeman. Gascho Motors Limited was started in 1926 by his father, Emanuel Gascho. Along with his brother, Roy, they carried on the family automotive business until their retirement in 1991. The third generation of the business continues to be operated today by Carl's son, David. After retirement, Carl lived his dream of being able to fish every day at his Muskoka cottage. He was a lifetime member of Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church. GASCHO, Roy. E. Of New Holland, formerly of Kitchener, Ontario, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2014 at Garden Spot Village at the age of 94. He was born in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada to the late Emmanuel and Melinda (Steinman) Gascho and was the husband of Martha F. Horst Kurtz Gascho with whom he shared 17 years of marriage. Roy attended the Akron Mennonite Church and he was a member of the Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. He attended the Bahia Vista Mennonite Church, Sarasota, during the winters he and Martha enjoyed in Florida. He was the dealer principal of Gascho Motors in Kitchener, a role he shared with his late brother Carl. In his retirement years in Canada he was a full time volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Canada. In New Holland he was a member of the ROMEO Club, and everywhere and always, enjoyed visiting with friends, loved to golf and attend vintage car shows. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Brad (Karen) of Kitchener, Ross (Darren Gobert) of Toronto, Canada; step children, Cynthia Kurtz Hinkle (John, deceased) of Smith Mountain Lake, VA, Melissa Peacock (James Kurtz, deceased) of Naples, FL, Darlene Kurtz Walker (John) of Lancaster, David Kurtz (Kathleen) of San Jose, CA, Joan Kurtz Barnes (Vincent) of Bowmansville, PA; three grand- children, Adam, Brianne and Alyssa Gascho; eight step grandchildren, Caroline Kurtz (Brian) Scheirer, Emily, Cullen and Brendan Kurtz, Elisabeth and Andrew Walker, Vincent and Christian Barnes. Mrs. Edgar Hoerle, New Hamburg, died Sunday at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital following a short illness, at the age of 34 years. Mrs. Hoerle was a daughter of Simon Steinman and the late Mrs. Steinman. The former Leona Margaret Steinman, she was born in Baden and lived in New Hamburg for the past 17 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

EDWIN BRENNEMAN

Edwin Brenneman, 62, of R.R. 1, Tavistock, died at Stratford Hospital Tuesday. He had been a patient there since Sunday. Mr. Brenneman was a native of Waterloo County, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Brenneman. He retired from farming in East Zorra Township in 1960 and moved to the hamlet of Cassel. On June 15, 1927, he married the former Selma Schlegel, who survives. Mr. Brenneman was a member of the Cassel Mennonite Church, 17^th line.

He is also survived by two daughters, Mary Jane Brenneman, a missionary-teacher at Mussorie, India, and Mrs. Murray (Muriel) Poole, Stratford; one brother, Noah of New Hamburg, and three grandchildren. A son, a brother and a sister had predeceased him.

The body was at the Robert Krug Funeral Home, Tavistock, last Thursday when removal was made to the East Zorra Mennonite Church, 16^th line, where a service was held conducted by Rev. Vernon Zehr. Burial followed in adjoining church cemetery.

NOAH BRENNEMAN

Noah Brenneman. New Hamburg area farmer, died May 23. 1968 at his home. He was 60.

Mr. Brenneman was born on the farm on which he died. He was the last remaining member of the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Brenneman.

He was a member of Steinman Mennonite Church.

Surviving besides his wife, the former Elmina Gingerich. are a son. Richard; and a daughter; Mary Ellen, both at home. He was predeceased by two brothers and one sister.

The body was at the Bruce J Omand Funeral Home. New Hamburg, from Friday afternoon until noon. Sunday, when removal was made to Steinman Mennonite Church for services at 2:30 p.m.. Rev. Albert Zehr and Elmer Swartsentruber officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

GERBER, Norma Arlene (nee Steinmann) February 4, 1930 - December 6, 2009 Peacefully with family at her side, Norma passed away at West Park Manor. With courage and grace, she accepted the gradual physical limitations of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Norma was born in Wellesley, ON. At the age of 11, her family moved to Baden. Here is where she met Stuart Gerber and they were married in 1951. In 1961 they moved to Winnipeg. Norma had a long career at Safeway retiring after more than 25 years in 1993. Norma was a kind and loving person who loved to be with her grandchildren. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren whether it was playing at home, outside or travelling to see them. She always took pleasure in each and every Christmas spending much time with them. Norma enjoyed camping with her family and loved tending to her flower gardens. She enjoyed making ceramics for her family and friends especially when they joined in and worked with her. She also enjoyed bowling for many years with Stuart and friends. Norma will be lovingly and sadly missed by her four children, Bryan (Laurice), Darrell (Sharron), Derrick (Debbie) and Melanie (Larry); her brother John and Clare and sisters Ruth and Irene. Forever cherishing her memories are her eight grandchildren, Michael, Lauren, Brent, Breanne, Bryce, Kathleen, Brittany and Tanner. She was predeceased by her husband Stuart, of 50 years, in 2001; her sister Nancy and parents, Enos and Clara Steinmann. The family wishes to thank the staff of West Park Manor for their continual care and compassion over the past four years. He lived in Wilmot Township all his life. A member of Maple View Mennonite Church, Wellesley, he was employed at Canada Blower and Forge Co., Kitchener. One daughter, Doris Ann, predeceased him in infancy. Surviving at his wife, the former Barbara Lebold; three sons, Carl of RR 2, Petersburg, and Paul and Ross, both at home; seven daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Marlene) Martz of Kitchener, Mrs. Gerald (Dorene) Brenneman of London, Ont., Mrs. Carl (Norma) Steinman of New Hamburg, Mrs. Basil (Janet) Plebon of Kitchener, Mrs. Ted (Shirley) Wroblewski and Mrs. Murray (Linda) Frey, both of New Hamburg, and Mary Lou, at home; two brothers, Delton of RR 2, Petersburg and Floyd of Baden; two sisters, Mrs. John (Ruby) Miles of RR 2, Petersburg, and Mrs. Gerald (Alice) Riehl of New Hamburg; 13 grandchildren. Elmer S. Boshart of Haysville died at his home last Wednesday. He was 55. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Boshart.

He was employed at Canada Blower and Forge Co., Kitchener, and was a member of Maple View Mennonite Church, Wellesley.

He was predeceased by one daughter. Doris Ann.

Surviving are his wife, the former Barbar Lebold; three sons, Carl of RR 2, Petersburg, Paul and Boss., both at home; seven daughters. Milton was self employed and was in the building trade for 42 years. An avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time at the cottage on Conestogo Lake where he water skied till he was 80 years old. As a hobby, he spent many hours doing wood carving and sold many at the ABC and Blyth Festivals. Our homes are filled with his carvings and will serve as a memory of dad. Elmer Bast Dies at 59

BLACK RIVER - Elmer Bast, 59, of Black River, R.D. 1, a farmer, died unexpectedly at his home Thursday at 13:20 p.m., following a coronary, while unloading grain from a truck at his farm.

The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Croghan Conservative Mennonite church with Rev. Andrew Gingerich, pastor, Woodville Mennonite church, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the family home at their convenience.

Besides his wife, Mrs. Violet Gingerich Bast, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Earl (Betty) Widrick, Mannsville, R.D., Mrs. John (Mary Jane) Stoffer, Ohio and Mrs. Warren (Marjorie) Wied- ner, New Jersey; four sons, Robert, Lawson and Kenneth, all of Watertown, R.D. 4 and Durwood, Lancaster, Pa; two brothers, Norman, Lowville, and Emmanuel, Kitchener, Ont.; and 14 grandchildren.

Born July 6, 1909, at Kitchener, Ont., a son of Jacob and Kathryn Spenler Bast, he came to the United States in 1928 and married Miss Violet Gingerich May 14, 1931, at Martinsburg.

The couple operated farms at Beaches Bridge and on Route 37 before moving to their present farm three years ago.

He was a member of the Croghan Conservative Mennonite church.

Born in Mornington Township, 71 years ago, a son of the late George Poole and the late Mary Spendler. Had farmed in Poole, retiring in 1964, a member of the Maple View Mennonite Church. Beloved stepson of Mrs. George Leah Poole, of Route 1, Milverton; dear father of Clarence of Route 1, Milverton, Lloyd of Poole, Edna (Mrs. Emerson Ropp) of Route 1, Tavistock, Eileen (Mrs. Robert Eickmeyer) of Route 2, Mitchell; dear brother of Norman of Milverton, John and Lorne, both of Route 1, Milverton, and Roy of Poole, Clara (Mrs. Gordon Schultz) of Brunner, and Emma (Mrs. Elroy Schultz) of Millbank. Also remembered by daughter-in-law, Pauline Horst of Millbank. Sadly missed by 31 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. At Marmora Caressant Care Nursing Home, Floyd, aged 94, passed peacefully, Wednesday morning, February 22. Son of the late Daniel and Nancy (Erb) Nafziger. Beloved husband of Erma (Lemp) Nafziger. It is also with great sadness to report Erma, aged 89, passed away Monday afternoon, February 27, 2017. Daughter of the late Wilfred and Clara (Wagner) Lemp. Floyd: Predeceased by his son Jeffery Nafziger and his brothers Emerson, Elmer, Vernon and by his sisters, Alice (in infancy), Erma Coverette, Dorothy Martin, Vera Wismer, Edna Zehr and Betty Steffler and will be missed by his dear brother, Leonard (Joyce) Nafziger. Erma: Predeceased by her son Jeffery, her brothers Hilbert, Eldon and Carl (Lemp) and sister Verda Lipskie and will be missed by her dear brother Alfred (Mary) Lemp and loving sisters Mildred Faulkner and Gertrude Kukor. Floyd and Erma were married just short of 65 years and were very proud to have raised such a large family of sons and daughters. GERBER, Lloyd Peacefully, on Friday, March 27, 1992, at K-W Hospital, Kitchener, Lloyd Gerber, of 149 Queen St. E. Wellesley.

Mr. Gerber was born in Wellesley township 73 years ago, a son of the late Christian Gerber and the late Catherine Nafziger. He was an active member of the Crosshill Mennonite Church, where he served as a trustee and Sunday school teacher. Lloyd farmed in Wellesley township and was also employed with Waterloo County Board of Education, retiring in 1964.

Dear husband of the former Frieda Lichty, whom he married on June 27, 1942. Dear father of Dianne and her husband David Guider of Woodstock, Lyle and his wife Linda Gerber of Wellesley, Delores and her husband Murray McMillan of Orono, Janice and her husband, Bob Belec of Kitchener and Lynne Gerber of Wellesley. Lovingly remembered by his eight grandchildren, Jeff and Shawn Gerber, Jonathan and Jennifer Guider, Michael and Emily McMillan and Benjamin and Andrew Belec. Dear brother of Roy and his wife Erma Gerber of Wellesley, Valentine and his wife Clara Gerber of RR 1, Brunner, Clara and her husband Allan Kuepfer of RR 1, Millbank, Miriam and her husband Ben Kuepfer of RR 1, Millbank, Emma and her husband Onias Martin of Wallenstein, Katie and her husband Stan Schellenburger of Sebringville. He is predeceased by one son and one daughter in infancy.

Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, 40 Henry St., Wellesley, where the family will receive friends and relatives today (Saturday) from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon on Monday, transfer will be made to Crosshill Mennonite Church for the service at 2: 30 p.m., Pastor Ray Erb and Rev Steve Gerber will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple View Mennonite Cemetery.

Memorials to Crosshill Mennonite Church or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy, for the late Lloyd Gerber.

MARTIN, Emma (Mrs. Onias B.) - Went Home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at Leisureworld Care Centre, Elmira. Emma (Gerber) Martin in her 81st year formerly of R.R. 3, Wallenstein. Beloved wife of the late Onias B. Martin (January 29, 2005). Loving mother of Verden and Carolyn Martin of Drayton, Yvonne and Ayman Al Zanoun of Bahrain. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Jon, Jeff, Matthew and Trevor Martin, Sami and Katherine Al Zanoun. Dear sister of Marion and Ben Kuepfer, Roy and Arlene Gerber and Katie Schellenberger. Predeceased by her parents, Christian and Katherine (Nafziger) Gerber, her grandson, Phillip in infancy; her sister, Clara Kuepfer (Allan), her brothers, Valentine Gerber (Clara) and Lloyd Gerber (Freda) and brother-in-law, Stan Schellenberger. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira (today) Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon on Tuesday, November 1, transfer will be made to Wallenstein Bible Chapel for funeral service at 2: 30 p.m. followed by interment in the Hawkesville Cemetery. In her memory, donations to Amicus Ministries International or the Residents' Council at Leisureworld Care Centre would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy. The family would especially like to thank the staff and administration at Leisureworld for their dedication and commitment. It was a great comfort to know she was cared for with such affection.

HUNSBERGER, Katherine Anne (nee) Nafziger - Peacefully, after a lengthy illness at Lisaard House (Cambridge), on Thursday March 8, 2007. Katherine was in her 75th year. Beloved wife of the late David (2005). Loving mother of Peter (Beth) of Memphis, Tennessee; Robert of Kitchener, Fred (Kathy) of London, Ontario, and Kristine (Brent) of Kitchener. Predeceased by daughter-in-law Monica. Will be sadly missed by grandchildren Julia, Tori and Lydia. Survived by one sister and three brothers and their families. Katherine was a longtime and faithful member of St. Jacob's Mennonite Church.
