    Notes:

    Mr. Christian Duench passed away last night about 11 o'clock at his home, 71 Water Street following an illness of one week's duration. Last Wednesday he suffered a stroke from which he never rallied. The deceased who was in his 75th year was born in Wellesley township, March 4, 1848. For a number of years he has resided in town and was well and favorably known and his death will be learned with regret by a large circle of friends. To mourn his death there are left the sorrowing widow, and two sons, William H. of Kitchener and Edward of Waterloo. Four brothers, Henry, Kitchener; George, Linwood; Louis, Bamberg, and Stephen of Wallenstein also survive. The funeral will take place Saturday afternoon at 2: 30 o'clock from his late residence 71 Water Street to Mt. Hope cemetery, Kitchener, for interment.

    WILLIAM H. DUENCH

    The death ocurred at noon today of William H. Duench, 80, at his residence, 61 Samuel sreet, after an illness of only a week. Deceased was born in Bamberg, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Duench. He was a member of St Matthew's Lutheran church and served on the church board for three years.

    Surviving are his wife and one brother, Edward, Waterloo.

    The remains will be at Schreiter Sandrock Funeral Home until Sun day noon.

    A native of Wellesley Township who lived most of his life in Waterloo, Edward C. Duench, 78, 138 Erb St. West, died Tuesday in K-W Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Duench was born Nov. 20, 1880, a son of Christian Duench and the former Mary Gilbert. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Waterloo, and of the church brotherhood. His wife, the former Caroline Mueller, died in 1929, and a son Milton died in 1952. He is survived by one grandchild, Carolyn Duench. The body is at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, Waterloo, where the funeral will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. by Rev. A.L. Conrad. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo.

    News Items: - The Grim Reaper is busy in our vicinity. Mr. Julius Duench passed away suddenly at his home on the 5th Con. Wellesley Tp.. on Sunday morning, Jan. 17th. Funeral took place on the following Wednesday from his late residence to the Hessenstrass Lutheran church, thence to the cemetery. The deceased was in his 30th year. He is survived by his bereaved wife an infant son and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Christian Duench of Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Hy. Gremm, of Wellesley Tp., and two brothers, Wm. in the West and Edward of Waterloo also sur- vive. He was well known and highly respected by his acquaintances. Quite a number from here attended the funeral.

    Milton C. Duench, 41, died early today at his residence, 138 Erb St. West, Waterloo, after a lengthy illness. He was employed in the office of the J. M. Schneider, Ltd., for 23 years. Born in Waterloo Dec. 17, 1910, he was a son of Edward Duench and the late Mrs. Duench. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Waterloo, and the brotherhood of the church. Mr. Duench taught Sunday School for many years.

    Besides his father, he is survived by his wife, the former Evelyn Schaefer, and a daughter, Carolyn, nine years.

    Funeral service will be held Monday at 2: 30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Parish Hall with Rev. A. L. Conrad officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The body will be at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home until Monday at 1 p.m. when removal will be made to the church. Friends are asked to pay their respects prior to the time of the service.

    ALVIN H. DUENCH 1912 - 2007 - Passed away peacefully, at Sunnyside Home, Kitchener, on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at the age of 94 years. Alvin was born in Wellesley Township. He was married to Lydia (nee Goettling) in 1930. Together, they raised their four children and after various work experiences, he worked for the City of Waterloo Works Department until his retirement. Alvin faithfully ushered at St. John's Lutheran Church for 47 years and lived at his home in Waterloo for more than 60 years. Alvin was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lydia, in 2000; and his half-brothers, Dick, Fred, and Herman Wolfe. He is survived by his children, William (Maureen), Marie (Denis) Morneau, Margaret (Bill) Fetter, and Donald (Ruth). Grandchildren, Lee Ann, Patrick, Christopher, and Kerry Duench, Tara (Ron) Brown, Melissa, Shannon, Nichole, Kathleen and Jaimie Duench, Rosemarie and Terry Morneau, Alison, Corinne and Tim Fetter, as well as one great-granddaughter Daniela Duench. Also survived by his half-sister Elsie (Arno) Schafer and "adopted granddaughter" Pat Cornwall. Special thanks to long-time care giver Gisela, and the staff of Sunnyside Home for their compassionate care. Friends are invited to share their memories of Alvin with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Sunday, April 22, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 22 Willow Street, Waterloo on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 11 am with the Rev. Joanne Peppler officiating.
