Notes |
- SZABATIN, Ferenc "Frank"
Of Cambridge, ON, in his 72nd year, passed away peacefully, at home on April 24th, 2011, from lung cancer. Frank was born June 29, 1939, in Otvos Hungary to Istvan and Marie Szabatin (deceased) and lived there until the age of 17, when he immigrated to Canada. After stops in England, Scotland, British Columbia, northern Ontario and Toronto, Frank moved his family to Cambridge on October 31, 1969. Frank was a loving husband and best friend to Betty (nee Elizabeth Evans Anderson), devoted father to Frank Jr. (Linda), Paul (Andrea), and James (Stella) and proud Pappa to Danica-Lee, Josiah, and Spencer. Frank enjoyed coaching his sons' various sports teams and refereeing soccer. An avid traveler and culinary enthusiast, he loved to regale visitors with stories of where he had been, what he had seen and what he had eaten. A man who loved to entertain, his family and guests, were never disappointed when he borrowed from his experiences and tested his culinary skills for them. Frank was a remarkable man with a remarkable story. Cancer took his body but it never took his spirit. Visitation will be held at Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge 519-653-3251 on Thursday, April 28, 2011, from 7: 00 pm and 9: 00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Knox Preston Presbyterian Church (132 Argyle Street North), Saturday, April 30, 2011, at 11 am.
