  Miss Jean Mitchell Passes The death occurred early Saturday morning, March 9, one of Ayr's highly respected senior citizens, Miss Jean Mitchell, in her 87th year. Miss Mitchell had resided for some time at the home of her friend, Mrs. Lyon Findlater, St. Andrew's Ave., Ayr. She was the last of the family of the late John Mitchell and Katherine Robson, pioneers of this district, and is survived by her sisters-in-law, Mrs. John Mitchell of Paris and Mrs. Thos. Mitchell of Toronto. Miss Mitchell spent her active years employed at the University of Toronto as housekeeper and house-mother in the student dormitories. She often met, in later years, ministers whom she had known as theological students at Knox College. Miss Mitchell was a faithful member of Knox United Church and a life member of the Women's Missionary Society. She was an active member of Ayr Women's Institute, and was a staunch Liberal. The Funeral The funeral service was held on Monday at the W. O. Ball Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Stanley Tose, Paris (in the absence of Rev. J W. V. Buchanan). Interment was in Ayr Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Geoffrey Mitchell of Burlington, William Mitchell of Toronto, Thomas Mitchell Q.C., of Chatham, Charles, Harold of Paris, nephews of Miss Mitchell, and Ian McRae and Thomas, Robson of Ayr.
