Art was employed at Preston Dairy (Maple Lane) for 40 years and he was a lifelong member of St. Clement's Parish (Preston) and a Naval Veteran of the Second World War and longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Preston) Branch #126. He was Commissioner of the Intercounty Junior Baseball Association, for more than 30 years. During that time he received many awards for his tireless devotion and attention to the league. Art was a huge fan of most sports, but baseball was his passion for many years and he was an avid bowler until the age of 85. Sadly he was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Olive Fach, sister, June Heffernan and his son James Fach (2007). He developed a love of computers in his 70's and was well known among family and friends for his very special personalized greeting cards. He was active on his computer right up until very recently. He was given the Outstanding Senior of the Year award, in 1999 for his many years of volunteer work at the Allen Reuter Centre, where he worked on the newsletter and taught seniors the joy of playing Solo.
