  Benjamin Woodward Ballard of Toronto, a native of the Hawkesville district, died in Toronto, Dec. 26. He was born on the Ballard homestead, 2 ½ miles west of Hawkesville, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin J. Ballard. Mr. Ballard was manager of the Hartford Insurance Company in Toronto, until his retirement a few years ago. Surviving are his wife, the former Catherine Evelyn Grierson; three daughters, Mrs. Austin (Catherine) Moran, and Margaret and Marion, all of Toronto; two sisters, Mrs. Howard (Mabel) Ulrop of Rochester, N.Y., Mrs. Hugh (Kit) Phelps of Toronto and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son in infancy and a brother, the late J. Henry Balllard. Elmira Signet 4 Jan 1962
