    • McTAVISH, Sister Bernita (Helen) Of the Community of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Diocese of London died peacefully on Friday, May 4, 2012 at the residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph, in her 98th year of life and 73rd year of religious profession. Sister is lovingly remembered by all her Sisters in community, her nieces Sharon, Heather, Mary, and nephews Kurt, Brian, Bob and Ronnie. Predeceased by her parents Alexander McTavish and Catherine Birmingham, brothers Joseph, Edgar, Alex Jr., Gordon, and sisters Ethel, Sr. Vivian CSJ, Gladys, and Dorothy. Sister Bernita is deeply missed by her great-niece Sarah, and good friend Pat Casey. Trained as an X-Ray technician Sr. Bernita served in three of our congregational hospitals: St. Joseph Hospital Chatham, St. Joseph Hospital Sarnia, and St. Joseph Hospital London. Pastoral Care at St. Mary's Hospital, London, and Volunteer Services at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chatham filled her final days prior to retiring to Mount St. Joseph. Her daily rhythm of prayer and her great love of beauty and art brought peace and harmony to her final days. All services will be held at St. Joseph Chapel at the residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 485 Windermere Rd., London. Visitors are welcome from 2: 00 - 4: 00 and 6: 00 - 8: 00 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2012. Evening prayer will be prayed at 6: 30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 8, at 11: 00 a.m., Rev. John Pirt presiding. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery on Wednesday morning. (John T. Donohue Funeral Home)
