  Clement George Hanning, born in Kilkrone, Cloyne, Ireland 5 Feb 1826, came to Canada in 1845 to Montreal. Was a civil engineer and land surveyor, also worked for the Grand Trunk Railway. Was a Provincial Land Surveyor in Bowmanville. He moved to Preston in 1891 and lived with his son barrister Clement Rowland Hanning.
