    • George was born in Preston and spend most of his life in the town. When he was young he joined that staff of the Preston Progress to learn the printing trade. later working with the Galt Reformer and Galt Reporter. Travelled west in 1911, returned in 1912 and with his brothers Lawrence and Cornelius started "The Prestonian" weekly newspaper.
