    • E. H. Anderson Died Today

Friends were shocked to learn of the sudden death early this morning of one of Galt's oldest businessmen, Edgar H. Anderson, 76, of 210 Main St. E. Mr. Anderson who came to Galt in 1913 was born in Uxbridge and had been associated with the T. Little and Son Company for the past 47 years, serving as president and secretary-treasurer for the past four. Active in lodge circles, the deceased had been a Mason, member of Galt Lodge 257 and a Royal Arch Mason of Waterloo Lodge 32. He was also a member of Central Presbyterian Church. The late Mr. Anderson was married twice, his first wife, the former Jean Mary Gould, whom he married in Orillia in May, 1907 predeceased him in 1950. His second wife, the former Emma Jane Longfield survives. A sister, Mrs. J. D. Dixon of Toronto also survives. He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister. Friends will be received at Little's Funeral Home, 39 Grand Avenue North, for funeral service on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will follow in Mount View Cemetery.

HE WAS A DECENT CHAP \endash Like all fellow citizens I was shocked Friday morning to learn of the sudden passing of Ed Anderson, president and general manager of T. Little and Son for the past four years with which business he had been associated since 1913. He came here from Orillia where he learned the furniture business and before that for five years was employed by the provincial government as assistant paymaster during the construction of the Timiskaming and Northern Ontario railway. Deceased suffered a heart attack a few years ago and since then had been careful and had taken life easy. He was at business on Thursday as usual, did not complain and retired that night around 10 o'clock. Early Friday morning he suffered a heart attack and while medical aid was immediately summoned he passed away before he could be removed to hospital. Ed Anderson was a top salesman, possessing a pleasing and kind disposition; was charitable, always ready and willing to assist the unfortunate and really a likeable chap. If I do say it, I doubt if anybody knew him better than we did, having met him the first day he joined the Little business and prized our associations ever since. He will be greatly missed in the city of his adoption. He was one of the deans of the city's retail section.
