  Elmer F. Squires Passes Elmer Francis Squires of Bute Street, Ayr, passed away in Willett Hospital, Paris, on Sunday, February I st. He was in his 89th year. Mr. Squires was born in Belmont, South Dakota and raised in Richmond, Virginia. He worked for over 40 years in Northern Ontario as a telegraph operator with the CPR. During World War I he served with the U.S. Navy. Some 20 years ago he retired to Ayr. Predeceased by his wife, the former Mary Blanche Hales, a brother Sanford and a sister Mary. Survived by a daughter Betty of Ayr; two sons, Churchill of Ayr and Robert of Brantford; also two grandchildren. Funeral service will be held today (Wed.) at 2 p.m. from the William Kipp Funeral Home, Paris. Interment in Ayr Cemetery. The Ayer News 4 Feb 1981 pg 11
