  Frederick Mathers A former Erin resident for over 11 years, Frederick Mathers passed away at Guelph General Hospital on Friday, January 3, 1964, following an illness of 3 weeks duration. The son of the late James Mathers and Julia Head. He was born in Toronto August 30, 1879. He was united in marriage with Bessie Statz in 1905 in Hespeler. Mr. and Mrs. Mathers resided in Erin until 3 years ago, when they moved to Acton. A mason by trade, Mr. Mathers was an excellent craftsman in his profession. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons: Emerson (Alton), Fred (Callandar) and Walter of Glencairn, three daughters Beatrice (Mrs. Walter Keeler, Erin), Lillian (Mrs. Les Lovell, Toronto), and Helen (Mrs. Philip LeSueur of Acton), 22 grandchildren also survive. The funeral service was held from the Wedell Funeral Home, Erin on Monday, January 6m, with Rev. Eagle of Acton United Church conducting the service. Temporary intombment was made at Coningsby Mortuary with Spring Burial in Alton Cemetery. Pallbearers were 6 grandsons: Gerald and Ralph Lovell, Paul and Kenneth Mathers, Billy Keeler and John Mathers. Guelph Mercury 4 Jan 1964
