    • AYRES, George Sydney Sr. - At the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Wednesday March 10, 1993 in his 76th year, has made it home to be with the Lord he loved and served so faithfully, welcoming him were his parents Violet and George Ayres and baby brother Donnie. Waiting to join him one day are his wife Marie (nee Quick), son George and his wife Marilyn, Paul and his wife Cynthia, daughter Bonnie and her husband Jim McCreadie all of Cambridge, son John and fiancĂ©e Jayne of Brantford, brother David and his wife Dorothy and sister Betty and Beatrice of Cambridge, also fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Friends will be received at Coutts and Son Funeral Home 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The home going celebration will be at Cambridge Calvary Church Of The Nazarene, corner of Norfolk Avenue and Hespeler Road, at 2 p.m. on Friday March 12, 1993, Pastors Peter Lanigan and Glen Reeder officiating. A time of joyful fellowship will follow. "Well done, old Soldier, you've made it home." George was an employee of Stauffer-Dobbies for 30 years and later a custodian at all 3 high schools in Galt. He served actively with the H.L.I. in W.W. II for five years, he held memberships with the H.L.I. Association, Salvation Army Over 60 Club, The Lion's Club Seniors, Capables and the Calvary Church of the Nazarene. He served God and the church as Sunday School Superintendent and a Board Member for over 30 years and Minister of Visitation and Adult Teacher for a lengthy period. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cambridge Calvary Church of Nazarene or the Cambridge Memorial Foundation or a charity of your choice.
