    • George Washington Post Every was born at Pickering Township on March 3, 1880 and started his career as an engineer in the J.L. Spink Flour Mill in Pickering Village. He learned to be an electrical engineer at Niagara Falls and Kitchener and worked for a Public Utilities commission in Ayr, Ontario. He came to Whitby about 1911 to join the Whitby Light and Water Commission. When the Whitby Public Utilities Commission was formed in 1915, Mr. Every became its superintendent and secretary. In the First World War Mr. Every was a recruiting officer and in 1916 he took the 116th Battalion to France. He was a high randing Mason in Ontario and wrote a history of Masonry in Whitby from 1825-1927. He died at Whitby on October 29, 1933 and is buried at Union Cemetery, Oshawa.
