      BECHTEL, Herbert J.

      At the Freeport Hospital, Freeport, on Sunday, Jan. 30th 1972, following a lengthy illness, Herbert J. Bechtel, age 86 years, of 64 Cedar St., North, husband of the late Laura Boehmer, father of Clarence of Waterloo, Mrs. Mable (Mabe) Morrison of Bridgeport, Mrs. George (Gerine) Haubach of Paradise Lake, Mrs. Walter (Almeda) Reeve of Kitchener and Mrs. Priscilla Jones of Galt; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; besides his wife, he was predeceased by his parents, one daughter Mrs. John (Evelyn) Noble and five sisters. Mr. Bechtel was involved in sports and in 1906 pitched the winning baseball game for the Waterloo Beavers to give the team the first Ontario Championship. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral home, 621 King St. West, Kitchener, where funeral and committal service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Frank Morgan officiating. Burial in the First Mennonite Church Cemetery.
