- James L. Vivian Passes - James Leonard Vivian, Bute St., Ayr, died on Sunday, April 30, at South Waterloo Memorial Hospital in his 72nd year. Born in Newquay, England on May 1, 1895, he moved to the United States in 1913 and then came to Canada to enlist in the Lord Strathcona's Royal Canadian Horse Regiment in the First World War. He served in France during the war until 1919 and then lived in Toronto before going to Galt in 1928. Mr. Vivian worked for Babcock-Wilcox and Goldie-McCulloch Ltd., and also for the Canadian General Tower Ltd. He also served on convoy duty during the Second World War. Mr. Vivian moved to Ayr 18 months ago. Surviving are his wife, the former Frances Alice Page; two sons, Leonard of Colgan, Ont., and Kenneth of RR 1, Ayr; a stepsister in England; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held from Coutts and Son Funeral Home, Galt, on Tuesday. Rev. N. A. Tilford of Christ Anglican Church, Ayr, conducted the service. Interment was made in Ayr Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Lewis Price, Cecil Robins and Glen Dykeman, all of Galt; Harry Nicholls, Preston; Jesse Osbourne, RR 1, and Fred Easton, Glen Morris.
