  WHITLA, Jessie - After a brief illness, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Saturday, September 11, 2004, in her 97th year. Jessie Whitla of Cambridge, beloved wife of the late James Whitla (1988). Dearly loved mother of Alex (Margaret) Whitla of Sackville, N.B. and Mary-Lynne (George) McNeill of Portland, Oregon. Cherished and loved by six grandchildren, David, Rob, John, Kathryn, George Jr., and Stephen and nine great-grandchildren. Loved and devoted sister of Dorothy Kerr of Cambridge and predeceased by sisters, Shirley Boettger and Goldie Macaulay. Fondly remembered by many nieces and a nephew. Jessie was a lifelong member of First United Church, Cambridge and a long time member of the choir. She served as church treasurer for forty years and was a life member of the UCW. On behalf of the church, she was a great visistor, especially to those in hospital. Jessie will be long remembered for her faith, devotion and loyalty to her church, family and friends of all ages. Bless her heart! Memorial Services will be conducted at First United Church, 15 Wellington Street, Cambridge on Friday, September 24, 2004 at 2 p.m. with Rever- ends Hillary and Robert Merritt officiating. Cremation has taken place. Remembrances to First United Church, 15 Wellington St., Cambridge NIR 3Y4 would be greatly appreciated by the Whitla family.
