    • JUNE SCHWARTZENTRUBER MENNONITE WORKER, DIES

      Toronto (Special) -- June Schwartzentruber, " a real woman of vision" whoworked as a mission consultant for the Waterloo-based Mennonite Conference ofOntario and Quebec since 1979 died in a Toronto hospital Monday. She was 52. "Her death is a real loss to the conference and to the mission programsbecause she had a vision as to what it meant to work with people in both lowerincome and suburban areas," said Paster Brice Balmer of Kitchener, chairman of the mission board. "She was a good friend to many, many people," Balmer added.To Pastor Vernon Leis, another Kitchener clergyman and longtime friend ofSchwartzentruber, she was a woman of vision who worked for a long time under the handicap of a heart ailment. A Cambridge native, Schwartzentruber worked many years in the U.S.including several years for the Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities in Elkhart, Indiana, in the 1950s.She later attended Eastern Mennonite College where she met her husband,Hubert, who was consultant with her for the local conference mission board. They later worked in St. Louis, Mo., from 1959 until 1972.She is survived by her parents Milton and Mary Lambke of Cambridge, her husband Hubert, her daughter, Lorna, who is a Voluntary Service Worker in Mississipi and her son Michael, who is living in Indiana, two sisters Janice Snider and Joyce Dettweiler, and one brother, Paul Lambke. Graveside service and burial will be at the Hagey Cemetery in CambridgeThursday at 10: 30 a.m. A memorial service will follow at the Warden Woods Church in Scarboro, Thursday at 3 p.m.
