    • BERKELEY, Kenneth H.

With great sadness the family of Dr. Kenneth H. Berkeley, wishes to announce his peaceful passing, on Sunday, April 18, 2010, in Cambridge, Ontario. He is survived by his treasured spouse, Penelope Smith, son Peter David Berkeley (Caroline) of Ottawa, and daughter Janet Maxwell (Craig) of Cochrane Alberta and grandchildren, Melissa and Kenneth Maxwell, Kiah Berkeley of Washington D.C. and Phoebe Berkeley of Ottawa. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret and his brother, Dr. James Berkeley of Qualicum Beach, B.C. Ken was born in St. Catharines to Dr. Garvin Berkeley and Bessie Alp. He attended Ridley College. He enlisted into the Canadian Navy and speedily transferred into the British Army. He was proud to serve in India and Malaya with the 3rd Gurkha Parachute Battalion, 9th Gurkha Rifles. Following the War, he attended Queen's University for his medical training. During this time in Kingston, he also taught military cadets at Camp Borden and upon graduation set up a private practice in Galt, Ontario, in 1955. He enjoyed his life's work with his patients and he served them well, until his retirement in 2002. He was so well loved by his family, friends and beloved patients. He enjoyed a wonderful life and will be dearly remembered, never forgotten. We shall miss him as words cannot describe. Ken is resting at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge. A private family gathering will be held in Cambridge.
