    • HERTEL, Leonard Richard - "Entered into life more abundant", Leonard Richard Hertel, of St. Luke's Place, Cambridge, on Thursday, Feb. 15, 1996, in his 84th year, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

      Beloved husband of Helen Isabel Fisher; much loved father of Paul Eric and his wife Ute Gertrude of Amherstburg, Catherine Frances of Kitchener and Gregory Louis and his wife Karen Anne of Toronto. Also sur vived by two nieces, two nephews, several cousins and many good friends.

      Born in Waterloo township, he was predeceased by his parents, Jacob Richard Hertel and Mary Frances McKie; a brother, Alexander Peter and a sister, Florence Stratton.

      Mr. Hertel was a member of St. Andrew's Hespeler Presbyterian Church, a long time elder and former Clerk of Session. He also served on the Board of Managers, on numerous com mittees and as Sunday School Superintendent in earlier years.

      He retired in 1977 from the Federal Civil Service where he had been a highly respected employment counsel lor in Kitchener and later in Cambridge.

      A talented violinist, Mr. Hertel enjoyed playing in the First Violin section of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony for 25 years. He also played in numerous area musical groups and musical productions.

      Chairman of the former Hespeler Public School Board for several years, the Centennial Public School on Weaver Street was built in 1958 during his term as Chair. Mr. Hertel was a Past Master of Preston Masonic Lodge AF & AM No. 297, a Past Principal of Preston Chapter R.A.M. No. 245, the Otto Klotz Lodge No. 731 and Heritage Lodge No. 730. He also served as DDGM for the former Wellington District of the Grand Lodge of Ontario and as Grand Superintend ent of the Royal Arch Masons of Ontario, Wellington District No. 4.

      Cremation has taken place.

      Visitation will take place at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Blvd., Cambridge on Saturday, Feb. 17, 1996 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew's Hespeler Presbyterian Church, 73 Queen St. E., Cambridge on Sunday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. Clergy officiating will be the Rev. Wilfrid McLeod and the Rev. Gray Rivers of Dundas. Masonic Brethren of the district are
      invited to attend in a body. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Andrew's Hespeler Presbyterian Church Building Fund, Saint Luke's Place or Cambridge Memorial Hospital, would be appreciated.
