Notes |
- Mrs. Mills Foley - Mary Grace Patterson (Mayme) was born near Hampstead, North Easthope, on the 11th of November, 1898, the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Patterson. She attended the public school there and later the high school in New Hamburg. After a training in Business College she acted as clerk in the bank leaving the work to go to the north where she believed the climate would strengthen her. Here she met Mr. Mills Foley to whom she was married Christmas Day, 1928. After making their home in Quebec City for a few happy months. Both husband and wife were stricken with illness, returning to New Hamburg. After three months at home she sought the Freeport Sanatorium where for over a year she made a brave fight for life, which ended Monday evening October 6th. It was during these months of patient suffering that she came into sweet fellowship with her Saviour and often spoke of the wonderful grace which sustained her even in great physical weakness. Her husband, Mr. Mills Foley, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Patterson, her brother John Patterson, of North Easthope, and her sister Martha at home are left to mourn; but are sustained by the thought that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord which is far better. The funeral service was held at the home of her parents Wednesday afternoon 2.30.
