  Thomas Daniel Hawes A former Ayr resident. Thomas Daniel Hawes of Toronto passed away in Toronto General Hospital on Saturday. October 24th. He was in his 69th year. Born in Toronto, he was a son of the late Thomas E. Hawes and the former Lillian White. He received his schooling in Ayr and gained his trade as a stationary engineer at John Watson Mfg. Mr. Hawes enlisted with the Canadian Army and saw action overseas during World War II. Following the war he joined Manufacturers Life in Toronto as a stationary engineer, retiring three years ago. Surviving are his wife Ida, a daughter Mrs. Victor (Pat) Nash of Toronto; two sisters Mrs. Robert (Lil) Todd and Mrs. Gilbert (Ann) Gemmell, both of Ayr: two brothers, Jack of Burlington and Art of Galt: also four grandchildren.
