  William E. C. Irwin Passes William E. C. Irwin, Swan Street, Ayr, a resident of the village for over 43 years, died Saturday morning in Willett Hospital, Paris. In his 70th year, the deceased, who retired two years ago because of ill health, was born in Drayton. Prior to moving to Ayr, he had lived in Walkerton, Ste. Therese, Quebec, and Kitchener. He was employed as a butcher at the former E. C. Krantz store in Ayr for 31 years. Following the sale of the store to Jack Laird, he stayed on for one year. Then, for nine years, prior to retirement, he worked at Penmans Ltd., Paris. Surviving are his wife, the former Norah Hooton; a daughter, Mrs. Leo (Norma Jean) Purcell, Ayr; a brother, Major F. J. Irwin of Kingston; and four granddaughters. Funeral service was conducted Tuesday from the William Kipp Funeral Home, Paris, by Rev. R. W. Birtch of Christ Anglican Church, Ayr. Pallbearers were Fred Burton, Gilbert Gemmell, Wallace Gillespie, Ben Ibele, Orville Gingrich and James Patterson. Interment in Ayr Cemetery. The Ayr News Nov 19 1970 pg 1
