    • Death of Thomas Fairey - A well-known business man of Ayr in the person of Mr. Thomas Fairey passed away on Wednesday, June 26, after a long illness from a cancerous growth in the stomach. He was born in England, but had spent quite a few years in Canada, and was in Ayr a short time before permanently locating here. He was a shoemaker by trade, succeeding Mr. Paul Maeder in the business here about eight years ago. He was of an enterprising turn, and improved his business by the introduction of labor-saving machinery. He also acquired a home in the west end and married, his wife surviving. The deceased was a member of Christ Church, where the funeral service was held, interment being made in the Ayr cemetery on Friday afternoon. The religious service was conducted by the rector, Rev. T. H. Inns. The pallbearers were Messrs. W. A. Ramsay, Robt. Harmer, A. W. Lewis, W. Clark, Jack Gourlay and Wm. Scott. Among the friends from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. Perry, Mr. and Mrs. Querrie, Mr. and Mrs. McDonald, Galt, And Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Brewer, Paris. Mr. Fairey was 61 years of age.
