  GATHER, Joseph Of Beck Street, Cambridge, on Wednesday, October 23, 2002, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in his 78th year. Beloved husband of Anne Marie Magdycz; dear father of Eric and his wife Maria of Cambridge, Edward of Toronto, David and his wife Debbie of Rockwood; lovingly remembered by two grandchildren, Ryan and Tara. Survived by three brothers. Predeceased by his parents; one brother and one sister. Mr. Gainer was born in Ruptawa, Poland, came to Canada, in 1946 and had been a resident of the area for many years. He was a self-employed contractor, formerly employed at Babcock and Wilcox and was a supervisor of the Core Room. He was also a member of the Polish Legion (Kitchener) No. 412, the Polish Alliance of Canada (Galt), President, Past President and Chairman of the Poppy Fund at the Legion and served in the Polish Army under Britain, North Africa European Campaign, during the Second World War, as a radio operator in Signal Corps. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, today (Thursday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Legion Service, under the auspices of the Polish Legion No. 412, will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Oct, 25, 2002, at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service.
