  • Notes
    • IUTZI, Helen Elizabeth (nee Macredie) Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her adoring family, on Friday, November 9, 2012, at 75 years of age, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. Helen was born in St. John, New Brunswick, the daughter of the late Jack and Margaret (nee Dallas) Macredie. She was the cherished wife and best friend for 54 years to Nyle Iutzi. Loved dearly by her children Margaret (Doug Heuman), Jennifer (Brian Cumberland) and Matthew Iutzi (Lisa Kuipers). Greatly missed and loved by grandson Graham Heuman, sister Leslie Macredie (Barry Wiens) and brother Ian Macredie (Elaine Condos). Helen and Nyle lovingly raised their children in Waterloo, Halton and Wellington counties, where Helen taught school and was, latterly, a principal in the Upper Grand District School Board. She kept in touch with fellow Galt Collegiate alumni, the reunions, which she so enjoyed. Her broad circle of friends also included colleagues, neighbours and acquaintances from the noon hour swims and other faithful yoga class members. Helen's quick, sharp mind and wicked sense of humour were just two of the qualities that led to so many treasured friendships. She felt strongly about helping those who are marginalized and acted on these feelings through decades of volunteering. In 2011, she was the recipient of the Lieutenant Governor's Ontario Senior Achievement Award for outstanding contributions in community voluntarism. Helen was a passionate and informed supporter of the visual and performing arts, loved to travel and continued to learn, both at home and abroad. The family wishes to thank the staff at both Kitchener's Grand River Hospital Emergency Care and at St. Mary's Hospital for their compassion, kindness and caring support. Cremation has occurred. Visitation will take place at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, November 24, 2012 from 1-2 p.m. Immediately following this visitation, there will be a Memorial Service in the funeral home chapel, beginning at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would gratefully appreciate donations in Helen's memory to her favourite charities: to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, to the Mennonite Central Committee, or to Doctors Without Borders (cards available at the funeral home (519-821-5077) or send condolences or make online donations at www/gilbertmacintyreandson.com
