Galt, Ontario, March 21.\emdash John Getty, of this town, was tarred and feathered and ridden on a rail for alleged cruelty to his wife during her confinement, shortly after which she died. Getty was subsequently arrested on a warrant charging him with the murder of his wife, and is now in jail.

John Getty, aged 66 years, passed away very suddenly Sunday morning, June 27, at his home, 1003 Seventeenth Street. Mr. Getty had been a resident of South Bellingham for the past thirty-one years.

At the time of his death, Mr. Getty was a member of Fairhaven Lodge No. 36, A.O.U.W., South Bellingham, and the local Bricklayers' Union No. 9.
