    Notes:

Dr. John B. Lundy was born on January 23, 1826 in Whitechurch, near Newmarket in the County of York. He was the son of Isaac Lundy and Kezia Bostwick, Quakers who originated in Pennsylvania. Dr. Lundy spent the first twenty three years of his life on the family farm and then entered a Quaker boarding school at Picton. He subsequently taught school at Mariposa. Later he studied at Lewiston Academy and later taught school in Brownsville and Lloydtown. He then entered Buffalo University to study medicine and graduated in 1851. The following year he received a second degree from the University of Toronto Medical School. Following graduation Dr. Lundy practiced with his brother-in-law Dr. James Hunter in Baltimore for a year before coming to Sheffield to establish his medical practice. Over the next twenty six years he became one of the best known and most successful doctors in the area. In 1878 Dr. Lundy closed his Sheffield practice and moved to Galt where he hoped to follow a less strenuous practice. In 1887, hoping to slow down even further, Dr. Lundy entered into a partnership with Dr. Thomas Vardon. Fifteen months later sold his interest in the practice to his partner and retired to Preston where he died on August 20, 1903. He is buried in Mount View Cemetery.
