Isaac Urmy, "was born December 1st, 1795. He came to Canada in 1820 and first resided at Dundas where he was engaged at his trade (tanning). Soon after his brother-in-law had moved to Bridgeport, Ontario, Mr. Urmy left Dundas and wended his way to Bridgeport where he then made his home with Mr. Wm. Tyson. For quite a number of years he was engaged at sundry works at Bridgeport. He strongly urged the erection of a tannery on the lot now possessed by Adam Birnstihl, but parties not favoring his project, later on assisted Mr. Wissler to erect his tannery at Lexington. Mr. Urmy was never married and died at the home of his sister, Barbara (Mrs. Wm. Tyson), April 30th, 1841."
