    LATE JOHN FERGUSON PIONEER OF KEPPEL

    Passed Away Sunday Last; More Than 53 Years On The Same Farm.

    We are sorry to record the death on one of the most respected pioneers of Keppel Township in the person of Mr. John Ferguson who died on Sunday, April 26th at the home of his son William on the farm from which he resided since 1872.

    The late Mr. Ferguson was born in Balfron, Scotland in 1845 and came to this country with his parents at the age of two years and spent the early part of his life in Puslinch Twp., Waterloo County. Here he was married to MaryAnn Nichol who predeceased him in 1901. After his marriage, he spent eight years at Galt, then moved in 1872 to the farm in North Keppel where he has since resided except for a few years in Oxenden.

    Of a family of nine children, eight survive to mourn the loss of a loving father, Mrs. F. Cole (Isabella); Mrs. Geo Robbinson (Agnes) Mrs. F. Hawken (Alice) and
    Archie, Windsor; Lawrence (Alberta); and A.G. (Albert Guin) Chatsworth.
    There are two brothers, Hector (Port Raney, B.C.) and Archie, Port Elgin.

    The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from his late residence to North Keppel Cemetery (Big Bay Cemetery) and was attended by a large number of old friends and neighbours. The services were conducted by his pastor J. Anderson of Kemble and the pallbearers were Messrs. John, Wm; and A. G. Ferguson; F. Cole; J. Edward and Nichol.
