JANTZI, Alvin -- Of 129 William St., Wellesley. passed away October 13, 1982, at his residence. He was born in Wellesley township 64 years ago.

He had farmed in Wellesley township and was employed by Wendell Motors. Son of the late Jacob Jantzi and the former Katie Albrecht.

Survived by his wife, the former Elmina Gerber; three sons, Orie of RR2, Nanticoke, Ont., Ronald of Collingwood, Larry of Wellesley; five daughters, Viola (Mrs. Glenn Gascho) of RR3, Stayner, Marjorie (Mrs. Cleon Wideman) of St. Albert, Alta., Marlene (Mrs. Delford Yutzi) of New Hamburg, Irene (Mrs. George Hosea) of Wellesley and Sharon (Mrs. Larry Keats) of Brampton. Also survived by 13 grandchildren. Predeceased by one sister.

The Late Mr. Jantzi will be resting at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, Wellesley, after 7 p.m. this evening, until noon Friday, when removal will be made to the Mapleview Mennonite Church for a memorial service at 2: 30 p.m. Rev. Alvin Leis will officiate. Interment in the church cemetery.

Jacob W. Jantzi, 56, Wellesley, died on June 15^th after a short illness. Born in Wilmot Township in 1892, he farmed in that area and was rural mail carrier for 23 years. He was a member of Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church. Surviving are his father, John Jantzi, and his stepmother. His mother, the former Mattie Wagler, died in 1907. Also surviving are his wife, the former Katie Albrecht; one son, Alvin, Wellesley; one daughter, Susanna, at home; three brothers, Noah, of Bamberg, John and David of Wilmot Township; six sisters, Mrs. Christian (Barbara) Albrecht, of Vero Beach, Florida, Mrs. Jacob (Lydia) Albrecht, of Crosshill, Mrs. David (Katie) Nafziger, of R.R. 2, Milverton, Mrs. David (Mattie) Zehr of Crosshill, Mrs. David (Elizabeth) Roes and Mrs. Enoch (Sara) Horst, of Millbank. Five grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held at his residence on Saturday morning followed by church service at 10 o'clock at the Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Mose Nafziger officiated at the church and Rev. Samuel Roth, Wellesley, officiated at the house. The pallbearers were Ervin Nafziger, Clarence Miller Emanuel Albrecht, Aaron Jantzi, William Albrecht and David Jantzi. The funeral, which was one of the largest in the district, was attended with relatives and friends from Vero, Florida; Bay Port, Mich.; Buffalo, N.Y.; Kitchener, Baden, New Hamburg, Crosshill, Milverton and the surround district.

MRS. JACOB JANTZI

Mrs. Jacob Jantzi, 78, of Wellesley died Thursday, December 9 at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital. The former Katie Albrecht , she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Albrecht. She was a member of Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church, Wellesley. Her husband Jacob died in 1949.

She is survived by one son, Alvin of Wellesley, one daughter, Susanah Wilhelm, of Kitchener, one sister, Elvine Albrecht, of Wellesley, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The body rested at the Futher Brothers Funeral Home , Wellesley where a family service was held Monday at 1: 15 p.m. The service was followed by a memorial service at the Cedar Grove Mennonite Church at 2 p.m. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

John Jantzi

A life long resident of Wellesley Township, Mr. John Jantzi, passed away at his home a mile and a half south of Wellesley, at nine-thirty Sunday morning, Nov. 12^th, 1950, in his 85^th year. Mr. Jantzi had been in poor health for about two years. The eldest son of the late Michael Jantzi and Lydia Brenneman, he was born on March 25^th, 1866, on the farm where he passed away where his son David now resides. Around the year 1889 he was married to Mattie Wagler, who died in 1907. He then married the former Mary Wagler in 1912, who survives. Mr. Jantzi had been engaged in farming until retiring about twenty years ago. Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Noah, John and David, near Wellesley, and six daughters, Mrs. Christian Albrecht (Barbara), Vero Beach, Fla.; Mrs. Jacob Albrecht (Lydia), Crosshill; Mrs. David Nafziger (Katie), Topping; Mrs. David Zehr (Mattie), Crosshill; Mrs. David Roes (Elizabeth), Millbank, and Mrs. Enoch Horst (Sarah), Millbank; 44 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, Jacob, who died in June 1949 and Michael, and two daughters Mary and Nancy. Also a brother Jacob, and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Nafziger (Mattie) and Elizabeth Jantzi predeceased him. The funeral service was conducted from his late residence Thursday morning (today). This was followed with a service in Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church on the 3^rd Line of Wellesley. Rev. Moses Nafziger officiated at the services. Interment took place in the cemetery adjoining the church.

It is with deep sorrow that we have to report the death of Mr. Jacob Wagler, who died on Tuesday, the 5^th inst. at 5 o'clock in the morning. The funeral took place on Thursday morning at 9, and was well attended. Mr. Wagler was the first Amish settler in this community and was a man highly respected by all who came in contact with him. Many a weary traveller found shelter under his roof and he always was kind to them. No doubt he will be much missed. The sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved family in this their sad affliction.

DEATH OF BISHOP WAGLER.

Mr. Jacob Wagler, Bishop of the Amish Mennonite church, died at his home on the fifth line on Tuesday morning. He had been ill but a few days and was in Wellesley village within a week or so. He was in his 62nd year and was apparently a healthy man until attacked by pneumonia a few days ago. He has lived in this section a very long time and enjoyed the highest esteem of all with whom he came in contact. For nearly 20 years he has been a bishop in his church and was a powerful speaker. His remains are to be interred at 9 o'clock this (Thursday morning.)

ZEHR. - On the 3d of February, 1899, in Wellesley township, Waterloo Co., Ont., Michael Zehr, in his 87th year. Deceased was a member of the Amish Church and was highly esteemed. A large concourse of people followed the remains to the grave on the 6th, in the Amish cemetery on the farm of the deceased. He leaves an aged widow and grown up family to mourn their loss.
