    Death of William Wyllie - Mr. William Wyllie, who had been ill for some time, died at 4 o'clock, Saturday, March 30th, at his residence St. Johns Rd., Toronto. Mr. Wyllie was 72 years of age and had been a resident of West Toronto since 1885. He was born at Ayr, where he conducted a drug store for some time and was very highly esteemed in his home town. On going to West Toronto he started a drug business. He kept a diary of Toronto Junction suburb doings and his interesting notations are still in the possession of the family. Mr. Wyllie was a Presbyterian and was one of the founders of Victoria Presbyterian Church in West Toronto, and of which he was secretary for many years. He is survived by Mrs. Wyllie, a daughter (Mrs. McEachern) and a son (Robert) who has been overseas for two years. The funeral service was held at the family residence, on Monday night and on Tuesday the remains were brought here and interred in the Ayr cemetery.

    Notes:

    Demise of Mrs. Wm. Wyllie - The death occurred in Toronto on Monday of Mrs. Jane Wyllie, widow of the late William Wyllie, in her 80th year. Deceased lived in Ayr for a great many years where her husband conducted a drug business in the store now occupied by Bennett's hardware. The family removed to Toronto some thirty years ago but Mrs. Wyllie made frequent visits to Ayr where she was well-known and held in great esteem by many of the older residents.     ...John Wyllie was born in 1835 in Canada and married Margaret Pringle of Scotland. Together they had three children, Robert, Jane and John. They lived in a one storey house accompanied by a ΒΌ acre of land. It was John's mother that was given credit for naming Ayr based upon the many immigrants from Ayrshire. Mentioning it to her husband Robert, who pronounced it as the name of his new established post office in 1840, she had founded the name that continues to exist today...
