    David Myers Dies

    Native of This Community Passes in Essex in His 78th Year

    The death occurred on Saturday at the home of his nephew, John Gunn, Maidstone Township, near the town of Essex, of David Myers, aged 77 years. Mr. Myers, who had been ill for two weeks, was born in Greenfield and lived in this community for 37 Years. He then removed to Essex where he had since resided. He was an adherent of Essex Presbyterian Church, which he attended regularly.

    Mr. Myers was unmarried and is survived by one brother, John Myers, Sirncoe, and two sisters, Miss Janet Myers, Simcoe, and Mrs. William Savage, Toronto. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon from the residence of Mr., Fred Mitchell, Ayr, to Ayr Cemetery. The services were in charge of Rev. J. W. Currie, and the following six nephews acted as pallbearers: David Gemmell, Charles Gunn, Stanley Gunn, David Lockie, John Welsh and Burton Myers.

    The following relatives from a distance were in attendance: Mr. and Mrs. John Gum, Essex; Mr. and Mrs. Willard Gunn, Leamington; Mrs. Darius Ulch, Harrow; Mrs. Savage, Toronto; John Myers and Mrs. Poster Kilgour, Simcoe; Burton Myers, Welland; John Gunn, Miss Besie Gunn and Stanley Gunn.     Death of Mrs. Mier - Another old settler, Mrs. Mier, Greenfield, passed away on Monday, at the ripe age of 76 years. She had been ill for some time with la grippe, but was recovering and suddenly succumbed to heart failure. Deceased, whose maiden name was Christine R. Kicherer, was born in Stuggart, Germany. She came to America in 1852, settling in Buffalo, N.Y., for a year or two and thence to Blenheim where she lived continuously for over half a century, most of the time being spent just across the road from where she died. Before leaving Buffalo she was married to Charles Mier, who followed the trade of stone mason and bricklayer, and who died in 1883. Mrs. Mier was a member of the Lutheran church and was well-known in Ayr and surrounding country. A family of seven children survive her. They are: Mrs. Wm. Lockie, Roseville; Miss Janet, Davie and Mrs. Alex Gunn at Essex; Mrs. John Gun at Washington; John at Greenfield, and Rose at home. A sister, Mrs. John McEwen, resides at Durham, Ont., and several other sisters are located in the States. The funeral will take place from her late residence, Greenfield, at 2 o/clock this (Thursday) afternoon to Ayr cemetery.
