    OLSEN, Elden - Passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at A.R. Goudie Eventide Home, at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Thelma (nee Barber) Olsen (2004). He was the father of Eldeen and her husband Glenn Cuthbertson of Kitchener, Norman and his wife Grace of Brampton, David and his wife Anne of Kitchener, Alan and his wife Kristi of Chilliwack, B.C., Robert and his wife Linda of Kitchener. Survived by 27 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Hazel Rawlinson of Pleasant Grove, Utah. Predeceased by parents, James and Lula (nee Vance) Olsen and one great-granddaughter, Hallie Anne Romans. Elden was a University of Alberta graduate and internationally respected electrical engineer who designed transformers and large hydro-electric systems. He was a dedicated member and a local and regional leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife Thelma served a church mission in India. Elden's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 and on Monday from 11: 30-12: 15 p.m. at the Kitchener Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1250 Strasburg Rd., Kitchener), followed by a funeral service at 12: 30 p.m. The funeral service will be followed by a reception at the church. Interment, Memory Gardens Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or the Salvation Army A.R.
