    James J. Freeborn

    James J. Freeborn, a prominent farmer of the Wellesley district, died Friday from pneumonia at his home, three miles north of Wellesley. He had been ill a week. Mr. Freeman was born in Wellesley Township, 63 years ago, and lived there all his life. Surviving are one daughter and two brothers. The funeral was held Sunday with interment in the Zion Third Line Cemetery.

    Notes:

    Third Line - the death of Mr. John Freeborn which occurred at his farm on the 3rd line, opposite Zion Presbyterian Church, on Monday evening, removes one of our aged and highly esteemed residents. He was in his 82nd year and has lived here for very many years. For some years past he has been troubled with a cancerous growth upon his face which has been a source of much pain to him as it gradually grew worse, and it no doubt hastened his death, which was the result of illness which his extreme age and feebleness could not withstand. His funeral will occur today (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o'clock, interment being in the 3rd line cemetery, a mile or so east of his home.

    "WILLIAM E THOMPSON After an illness of two months, Mr William E. Thompson passed peacefully away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Smith (Tryphena Schmidt), Wellesley, at the age of seventy-seven years, seven months and eleven days. There are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving father two sons and two daughters: William, of the West: Albert, of Toronto; Mrs John Richardson, of Listowel and Mrs. Fred Smith of Wellesley. Eleven grandchildren and two brothers, James of Alpena, and Edward of Dundalk, and one sister, Mrs. R.C. Clarke, of Millbank, also survive. His wife and one daughter predeceased him some years ago. He was a member of the old Zion Church on the third line of Wellesley. The funeral was held on Monday to the third line cemetery."

    Thomas Freeborn was appointed administrator of his brother-in-law Edward Thompson's estate. On 8 Feb 1859 Edward's brothers John, George and William Thompson signed a document surrendering their interest in their brother's estate to the administration of Thomas Freeborn. This document specified that the five children of the deceased Edward Thompson & Catherine Freeborn were now living in the township of Wellesley and under the age of 21 years.
