Three sisters and one brother also survive, they being Mrs. Jacob Ball, Waterloo; Mrs. John Wintermeyer, Kitchener; Mrs. Joseph Bauman, Walkerton; and Charles B. Bauer of Waterloo.

In his younger days the late Mr. Bauer was a carpenter contractor, which occupation he followed for a number of years. In 1888 he started the factory which is now Bauer's Limited, and which was commonly known as The Waterloo Shoddy Mills. Under his guidance and management the firm, which was known as A. Bauer and Company until 1917, rapidly grew and expanded to its present position of importance as one of Waterloo's leading industrial establishments. Mr. Bauer's unusual business ability was largely responsible for the remarkable manner in which this company recovered from the two serious fire losses which it sustained in the past few years. In 1917 the company as at present constituted, was organized with the deceased as President, a position he held until his death.

In 1896 the late Mr. Bauer assumed the management of the Kuntz Brewery on the death of his brother Frank. He held that position until January of this year when he was forced to resign on account of ill health. The progress which the firm has made is also due in large to Mr. Bauer's careful management. During his busy industrial life Mr. Bauer found time to take an active part in the municipal affairs of the town. For more than 30 years he was a member of the Separate School Board. In addition he served four years on the Town Council, the Waterloo waterworks was established, Mr Bauer taking a prominent part in this step of municipal advancement.

On the organization of the Waterloo Water Commission, Mr. Bauer forsook his councillorship to associate himself with the Management of the Water Commission. As a result he was a member of the Waterloo Water and Light Commission for 25 years, from the time of its establishment in 1900 until the close of last year. For 15 years of this period, 1900-1924 he was chairman of the commission. Mr. Bauer's service to the town at large therefore extends over a period of 29 years a record any citizen might well be proud of.

In more recent years Mr. Bauer rose to considerable prominence in the Waterloo financial circles, being interested in many of Waterloo's foremost business establishments. He was vice-president of the Globe Furniture Company, and of the Ontario Equitable Life and Accident Insurance Company, and in addition he was on the Board of Directors of the PE Insurance Company, The Merchants Casualty Company, The Waterloo Mutual Fire Insurance Company and Pilliner Products Company.

He was also a prominent member of St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, serving on the building committee of this congregation for many years and always taking a keen interest in all of the church activities and benevolences.

The funeral will be held monday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Louis R.C. Church with interment in Mount Hope Cemetery.
