WILKEN, Arthur Edward William - Passed away, peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Trinity Village, Kitchener, on Tuesday, March 20, 2007, in his 78th year. Loving father of Carl and his wife Doreen of Kitchener, Gerry of Elmira, Grace Harrison and her husband Bud of Kitchener and Joan Weltz and her husband Brad of Mildmay. Dear brother of Annie Alles of Hanover. Proud grandfather to Kristena (Adam), Danielle (Bruno), Tom (Sara), Michael (Trish), Heather, Jocelyn, Emily, Braden and Jessie and cherished great-grandfather of Ashton, Aden, Kian, Micheal, Julia and Melyna. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, Jean Wilken (nee Hagedorn). Art was a taxi owner and operator with United Taxi for 39 years. Friends are invited to share their memories of Arthur with his family at the Westmount Funeral Chapel, 1001 Ottawa Street South (at Westmount Rd), Kitchener, on Thursday, March 22, 2007 (this evening) from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, March 23, 2007 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A service to celebrate Arthur's life will be held at St. Philip's Lutheran Church, 236 Woodhaven Road (between Wilson Avenue and Siebert Street) on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow the service and reception at Williamsburg Cemetery.As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Philip's Lutheran Church or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family and can be arranged by contacting the funeral home at 519-743-8900.
