    BENDER, Lloyd -- Passed away, on Saturday, March 14, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. He resided RR 1 Tavistock and was born in East Zorra Township, 85 years ago, a son of the late Soloman and Raecel (Iutzi) Bender. He was a member od Cassel Mennonite Church and a past member of the Haysville Sunshine Club. Lloyd enjoyed repairing and selling horsedrawn wagons (Buckboards) as his hobby. Beloved husband of Leona Annie (Bender) whom he married, January 1, 1939. Loving father of Sanford and his wife Joy of Guelph, John and his wife Marty of Elkart, Ind., Willard of RR1, Tavistock, L. Brian and his wife Vivian of RR 1 Tavistock, Mark and his wife Christa of RR2, New Hamburg, Kay and her husband Murray Meadows of Brampton. Ever remembered by 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Dear brother of Milfird and Edna of RR 1, New Hamburg, Gladwin and Elma of RR 1, Tavistock and Elvera Bender of New Hamburg, Predeceased by one brother, Clarence and his wife Ida Bender. Friends and Relatives were received at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg, on Sunday from 2-6 and 7-9 p.m. A Family burial will be held at the 16th line East Zorra Cemetery on Monday March 16 (today) at 3 p.m. followed by memorial service at Cassel Mennonite Church at 3: 30 p.m. with Pastor Jim Whitehead presiding.

    Bender, Solomon R., was born in Wilmot Township, Ont., Jan. 16, 1882; died after a brief illness at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Ont., Dec. 1, 1957; aged 74 y. 10 m. 15 d. In his early youth he accepted Christ as his Saviour and united with the Amish Mennonite Church of East Zorra, Ont., of which he was a member until his death. He was the first to break the family circle. Surviving are his wife, the former, Rachel Iutzi, who he married Dec. 4, 1906, one daughter (Elvera, New Hamburg, Ont.), 5 sons (Clarence, Lloyd, and Laverene, all of East Zorra, Ont.; Milford, Wilmot Twp., Ont.; and Gladwin, Kitchener, Ont.), 3 brothers (John, South Easthope, Ont.; Christian and Ezra, both of East Zorra, Ont.), 3 sisters (Mrs. Noah Wagler, North Easthope, Ont.; Mrs. Christian Lebold and Mrs. Christian Baechler, both of South Easthope, Ont.), and 19 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the East Zorra Church in charge of Henry Yantzi, Joel Schwartzentruber, and Curtis Cressman. Burial in the adjoining cemetery.

In 1906 she was married to Solomon Bender, who preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1957. Surviving are 5 sons (Clarence, Lloyd, Milford, Gladwin, and Laverne) one daughter (Elvera), 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 3 sisters (Mrs. Nancy Yantzi, Mrs. Mary Yantzi, and Mrs. Emma Wagler).     Bender. - Elizabeth Ruby Bender, daughter of the late Bishop Joseph Ruby and Magdalena Roth Ruby, was born in Perth Co., Ont., Sept. 30, 1851; died April 19, 1929; aged 77 y. 6 m. 20 d. In early youth she accepted Christ as her Savior, united with the East Zorra A. M. Church, and remained a faithful member until death. On Sept. 28, 1875, she was united in marriage to Joseph M. Bender. This union was blessed with ten children, 7 sons and 3 daughters. Her husband died May 2, 1915. She is survived by 5 sons, 3 daughters, 40 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, and 1 sister. Two sons and 9 grandchildren preceded her in death. Services were held in the home, conducted by Jacob R. Bender and at the East Zorra A. M. Church, conducted by Daniel Stineman and D. S. Jutzi.

    Iutzi.-Mary Iutzi (nee Schrag) was born in Perth Co., Ont., June 17, 1853; died March 16, 1939, in Oxford Co., Ont.; aged 85 y. 8 m. 29 d. In early youth she united with the East Zorra A. M. church under the ministry of Bishop Joseph Ruby. She was united in holy matrimony to Michael Iutzi, living in matrimony 55 years; and in widowhood almost 11 years. This union was blessed with 4 sons and 10 daughters, of whom 3 sons (Benjamin, Aaron and Simon) and 3 daughters (Catherine, Elizabeth and Lydia) predeceased her. Surviving are 1 son (Bishop Dan S. Iutzi) and 7 daughters (Magdalena, wife of late Christian Ruby; Leah, wife of Dan S. Zehr; Rachel, wife of Solomon Bender; Amanda, at home; Nancy, wife of Michael Jantzi; Mary, wife of Mrs. Jacob Yantzi; and Emma, wife of Samuel Wagler); also 53 grandchildren of whom 3 died, and 77 great-grandchildren of whom 9 died. One sister (Barbara, wife of late Chris Kennel of Wellesley) survives. Services at home March 19, conducted by David Schwartzentruber and at East Zorra A. M. Church by Bros. Menno Kipfer and Jac. R.     BISH. JOSEPH RUBYJoseph Ruby was born on the 12th of July, 1813 in Alsace-Lorraine, France (now Germany), came to Canada in 1839, and was married to Magdalena Roth on the 17th of November 1840, and lived in matrimony 46 years, 3 months and 17 days; his wife died 9 years, 11 months and 13 days before him. He died on the 12th* of January, 1897, aged 83 years, 6 months and 4 days. Of his 9 children, 8 survive, one living in Colorado; there are also 58 grandchildren living and 3 dead, and 3 great-grandchildren. In 1852 he was ordained to the ministry, and in 1853 to the office of bishop. He served faithfully in his calling for about 43 years in the East Zorra Mennonite Congregation. His funeral, on the 19th, was very largely attended. Funeral services by Chr. Zehr from John 5: 25--30 and Chr. Litwiller from 2 Tim. 4: 6--9.
