    Horst, George W., son of Daniel and Annie (Weber) Horst, was born July 9, 1903; died Feb. 24, 1980; aged 76 y. On Nov. 9, 1927, he was married to Leah Martin, who survives. Also surviving are one son (Mahlon), 2 daughters (Anna-Mrs. Kenneth Rahn, and Ruth-Mrs. Wilbert Ziegler), 14 grand-children, 3 great-grandchildren, 6 brothers (Nathaniel, Aaron, Simeon, Daniel, Osiah, and Mose), and 3 sisters (Lovina-Mrs. Otto Wrasse, Annie-Mrs. Addison Bauman, and Lydian-Mrs. Howard Bauman). Funeral services were held at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church, Feb. 27, in charge of Richard Yordy and Wilmer Martin; interment in St. Jacobs Mennonite Cemetery.

    HORST, George W. On Sunday, Feb. 24, 1980, at K-W Hospital, George W. Horst, aged 76 years, of 534 Guelph St., Kitchener. He was born in Woolwich Township and was a member of St. Jacobs Mennonite Church.

    Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Horst. Husband of the former Leah Martin; father of Mahlon of Wellesley, Anna (Mrs. Kenneth Rahn) of Grimsby, Ruth (Mrs. Wilbert Ziegler) of Hawkesville, brother of Nathaniel, Aaron, Simeon, all of Elmira, Daniel of Hawkesville, Osiah of Toronto and Mose of Indianna, Lavina (Mrs. Otto Wrasse), Annie (Mrs. Addison Bauman), both of Elmira, Lydianne (Mrs. Howard Bauman) of New York. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Predeceased by two brothers.

    Resting at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, after 7 p.m. this evening, until noon Wednesday, then to St. Jacobs Mennonite Church for funeral and committal services at 3 p.m., Rev. Richard Yordy officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. Donations to the Mennonite Central Committee or the Ontario Heart Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

    Horst, -- Daniel B., was born in Bothwell, Ont., Aug. 4, 1876; died Aug. 9, 1955, at his home in Elmira, Ont.; after a lengthy illness; aged 79 y. 5 d. On June 25, 1898, he was married to Annie Weber, who preceded him in death Feb. 23, 1953. Surviving are 9 sons and 3 daughters (Samuel, St. Jacobs; Moses, Goshen, Ind.; George, Conestoga; Elias, Elmira; Lovina-Mrs. Otto Wrasse, Drayton; Daniel, Wallenstein; Annie-Mrs. Addison Bauman, St. Jacobs; Simeon, missionary to B.     ELMIRA - Mrs. Daniel B. Horst, 74, of RR 1, Elmira, died suddenly following a brain haemorrhage at her home today. Born near Lexington, she was the former Annie Weber, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Moses Weber. Surviving are her husband; nine sons, Aaron at home, Elias and Nathaniel of RR 1, Elmira, Samuel of St. Jacobs, George of Conestogo, Daniel Jr. of Wallenstein, Moses of Goshen, Ind., Osiah of Mannheim and Simeon, a missionary to Africa; three daughters, Mrs. Otto Lavina) Wraase of RR 2, Drayton, Mrs. Addison (Annie) Bauman of St. Jacobs and Mrs. Howard (Lydiann) Bauman of RR 1, Elmira; three brothers, 10 sisters and 45 grandchildren. A private service will be held at her home Wednesday at 1: 30 p.m. following by a public memorial service at the Elmira Mennonite Church with Bishop Oliver D. Snider officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The body is at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, until Wednesday at 9 a.m. when it will be taken to her home.

    ST. JACOBS - native of Woolwich Township, Christian R. Martin, 78, died suddenly today at his home in St. Jacobs. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Martin, he was a carpenter all his life. His first wife, the former Susannah Horst, died in 1945. In July, 1949, he married Marian Bowman, who survives. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. George (Leah) Horst* of Conestogo; one brother, Menno of St. Jacobs; four sisters, Mrs. Samuel Stauffler of Pennsylvania, Mrs. Norman Gingerich of Sarnia, Mrs. Gingerich, RR 2 Wallenstein, Mrs. David Hintz of RR 1 Wallenstein; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The body is at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, until 10 a.m. Friday. A private service will be conducted at his residence at 2: 30 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o'clock at St. Jacobs Mennonite church and burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

    Samuel Horst, "(His father was a distant relative to old Christian and David Horst) son of David and Leah (Mosser) Horst, was born in Canarvon Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania (Did not receive date of moving to Canada), October 30th, 1841. He was first married to Mary Ann, daughter of Henry Martin of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She was born September 23rd, 1842, and died January 3rd, 1872. On October 27th, 1872, he was again married to Magdalena, daughter of John S. and Elizabeth (Burkhart) Brubacher. She was the widow of the late Michael Brubacher (See No. 1489 for full information). She was born April 12th, 1850. They reside about three miles west of St. Jacobs. Mr. Horst has a family of seven children, the eldest four of whom were born in Aldborough Township, Elgin County, near Clachan P.O., while the younger three were born in Woolwich Township, Waterloo County, near St. Jacobs."

    Magdalena B. Brubacher, "youngest daughter of John S. and Elizabeth (Burkhart) Brubacher, was born April 12th, 1850. She was first married to Michael M., son of John W. and Catharine (Martin) Brubacher. They resided on the farm now possessed by Rev. Daniel M. Brubacher until his death which took place June 18th, 1870. Their family consisted of one daughter named Elizabeth, who was born September 30th, 1869, and is married to Cyrus Eby of Conestogo. After her husband's death she was married to Samuel, son of David and Leah (Mosser) Horst. He was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, October 30th, 1841. The second marriage took place October 27th, 1872. They reside about a mile west of the Conestogo Mennonite Meeting House. Their family consists of seven children, viz: (The first four were born in Elgin Co., Ont., and the younger ones in Waterloo Co."

    Moses Weber," was born August 27th, 1847. On February 22nd, 1870, he was married to Barbara Horst. He resides on north half of lot No. 65 German Company's Tract, being part of the old "Henry (Henner) Weber Farm." This union was blessed with four children, namely: VII Barbara (dead), VII Daniel (Dead), VII Simeon, and VII Mary Ann. After the decease of his first wife he was married to Lydia Gingerich. The second union was blessed with a large family. The names of children are VII Anna, VII Israel, VII Sarah, VII Lovina, VII Lydia, VII Moses, VII Rebecca, VII Elizabeth, VII Leah, VII Magdalena, and VII Veronica."

    Martin.-Leah Rudy was born Aug. 8, 1855, in Waterloo Co., Ont.; died Oct. 31, 1931; aged 76 y. 2 m. 23 d. On Jan. 31, 1875, she was united in marriage to Henry P. Martin who predeceased her about seven years ago. To this union were born 14 children, 8 of whom are still living. They are as follows: Lydia (Mrs. Noah Sittler near Hawksville with whom she resided), Menno, Christian, Jonathan, Susanna (Mrs. Samuel O. Stauffer), Maryann (Mrs. Joseph Gingrich), Nancy, Leah (Mrs. Norman Gingrich). There also survive 1 brother (Daniel Rudy), 31 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. On Apr. 22, 1929, she suffered from a stroke, from which time on she was confined to her bed. Although she was blind and almost helpless she never complained. The last few months she suffered much pain but bore it patiently till the end. She was a member of the Mennonite Church, having accepted Christ in her youth, and remained faithful, having a desire to go and be with those already gone before. Funeral services conducted at the home by Henry Bauman and at Conestoga Riverside Church by Henry Bauman and Jesse Bauman. Texts, II Cor. 4: 17, 18; I Cor. 3: 11-15. Burial in adjoining cemetery.
