    Notes:

    Mrs. August Holzschuh of Linwood died Monday at the K-W Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 83. The former Minnie Axt, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Axt. She was born in Peel Township in 1886. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Linwood, and a charter member of the Lutheran Church Women. Her husband predeceased her in 1956. Surviving are two sons, Lawrence of Wasaga Beach and Elwood of Kitchener; two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Frieda) Kreutzweiser of Stratford and Mrs. Verna Koenig of Kitchener; three sisters, Mrs. Edmon Holzschuh and Mrs. Herman Schlueler, both of Linwood and Mrs. Walter Main of Kitchener; a brother, Walter of Preston; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one brother. The body was at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, until 10: 30 a.m. today. The service was at St. Peter's Church, Linwood at 2;30 p.m. Burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery, Linwood, Rev. Eric Griebling will officiate.

    We are sorry to report the death of Mr. David Axt of the 13th line who died at his home on Tuesday morning. Deceased was a well known farmer in these parts. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, two sons and two daughters. The funeral will leave his home on Thursday at 1: 30 p.m. to the Lutheran Cemetery at Linwood

    The sad and untimely death of Mr. David Axt took place at his home near Linwood last Tuesday morning, after a lingering illness of pernicious anaemia, from which he gradually grew weaker until he passed away. He had reached the age of 59 years 5 months and 10 days. He was a prosperous farmer and was liked by all who knew hm. He was born in waterloo township on the 17 of January, 1857 from whence he moved to a farm near Elmira until his marriage to Martha Lasch in 1883, when the settled on the farm on the 4th concession of Peel. Afterwards he moved to the farm where he died.

    His death is mourned by the sorrowing widow and two sons and four daughters. The children are: William, on the farm near Linwood; Walter, at home; Mrs. August Hotzschuh; Mrs. H. Schlueter; Mrs. Ed Hotzschuh, all of near Linwood; and Miss Emilia, at home. Eight grandchildren and four sisters also survive him.

    Deceased was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran church. The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon and was conducted by Rev. Reble, Pastor of the church and was attended by a large number of friends and relatives.

    The death of Mrs. Martha Axt, occurred yesterday at Linwood, in her 9th year after an illness of only one week. Her husband, David Axt predeceased her 14 years ago, and she survived by two sons, William at Linwood and Walter in Kitchener. Four daughters, Mrs. August Holzchuh, Mrs. Edmond Holzschuh, Mrs. Herman Schleuter of Kitchener, one brother Paul Lasch of Floradale, one sister, Mrs. J. G. Wilkin, near Palmerston, and 21 grandchildren. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon from the residence in Linwood to the Lutheran church. Interment will be made in the Linwood Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. J. Schmieder of Kitchener officiating.

    MRS. LASCH

    Last Monday death removed one of the old settlers of this township in the person of Mrs. Lasch relict of the late Daniel Lasch at the age of 81 years. 4 months and 4 days. Deceased was born in Seedorf near Main; emigrated to Canada in the year 1857 lived two years near Waterloo then settled with her husband in Peel Township, about a mile north of Yatton, on the farm now occupied by her son Paul. where she lived until her demise occurred. She was one of the few remaining. courageous and hardy settlers who braved the discomforts and the strenuous work demanded by pioneer conditions, and who did so much towards making this fine agricultural section what it now is. She was a consistent member of the Lutheran congregation at Floradale where the funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon, May 31st at two o'clock p. m. Deceased leaves five children and a number of grand-children to mourn the loss of a of a kind and self-sacrificing mother. Martha (Mrs. Dan. Axt) Linwood, Amelia. (Mrs. John Wilken), Wallace; Paul (on the homestead) and Caroline, (Mrs. Hugh Campbell) of Peel Township.

    Her eldest son Ezra. died in 1900.
