    Stauffer, Gordon Henry Private. He was attached to the 108th Regiment and enlisted with the 118th Battalion at Kitchener, November 10, 1915. He was born in Canada and is the son of Daniel R. Stauffer, Plattsville, Ontario. He was killed in action at Passchendaele. Presbyterian. Born June 11, 1889 at the home farm at Chesterfield. He was educated at the school near by and later at the Euler Business College. He was employed at the Dominion Bank Baden and transferred to Kitchener in the spring of 1915. He went overseas with the 118th Battalion and transferred to the 1st Canadian Battalion.
    He saw active service in France until he was instantly killed by a shell on November 6, 1917 at Passchendaele. He is buried at Mosselmart Cemetery, Belgium. Carrie H. Stauffer, R.R.No.2, Bright, Ontario.

    Daniel R. Stauffer

    One of the most prominent residents of the Township of Blenheim, passed away at his home near Chesterfield on Tuesday morning, March 1st, in the person of Mr. Daniel R. Stauffer at the age of 80 years. He suffered a paralytic stroke about two years ago and had since been confined to his home. The late Mr. Stauffer was born on the farm where he died and had spent practically all his life there. He took an active part in public matters, being for many years on the Blenheim Township Council as Reeve and a member of the Oxford County Council. He was also secretary of the Bright Cheese and Butter Company for many years. The deceased was well known in insurance circles of this district having held the position of secretary treasurer of the North Blenheim Farmer's Mutual Fire Insurance Company for many years. This position he relinquished only recently owing to his illness. He was a man of outstanding qualities and integrity and was well and favorably known throughout the district. He was one of the pillars of the Chesterfield United Church and very active in religious matters. His wife predeceased him 11 years ago, but he leaves four sons and one daughter, Irvin, of Saskatchewan, Ernest, of Chesterfield, Ormond, of London, Daniel Jr. on the homestead and Mrs. Clifford Woolcott, of Chesterfield. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. J. S. Betzner, of Grand Rapids, Mich., Mrs. Jas. Ferguson, of Bright, and Mrs. Peter Hallman of Plattsville. The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon from his late home to the Chesterfield United Church and Cemetery.
