We are called upon this week to record the death of Catherine Weber, widow of the late John Miller, which occurred at her home in this village on Sunday evening last, aged 75 years, 11 months and one day. Along with her husband, who died in October last, she has been a resident of this village for very many years, and is sincerely mourned by a large number of relatives and friends. The old lady has been blind for the past few years, and since her husband's death last October she has been gradually failing so that the end was not unexpected. The funeral occurred yesterday afternoon, the remains being laid away to rest at the cemetery of the Miss. Lutheran Church, of which she had been a member since it was organized. A vast assemblage listened to the impressive funeral sermon delivered by Rev. Mr. Lochner on the occasion.

    Woman Dies Due to Burns

Mrs. George Fink Found On Knees in Room With Clothes Aflame

WELLESLEY - June 10 - Mrs. George Fink of the third line, Wellesley, died about 11 a.m. yesterday as the result of fatal burns she had suffered during the night when her clothing apparently caught fire while she attempted to light an oil lamp.

According to reports available, Mrs. Fink, who suffered an illness that prevented her going to bed, was alone downstairs at the time. Her daughter, Anna, and two sons, William and Henry, Hanover, were wakened about 2: 30 a.m. by the sound of her body falling to the floor from the chair in which she had been sitting.

    FOUND ON KNEES

Rushing downstairs, Henry, who had been visiting in the house over the weekend, found his mother on her knees on the floor with her clothing a mass of flames. A large circle of linoleum on the floor around her was blazing. She was conscious when found, it is reported, but it is believed that she must have struck her head in falling, rendering her temporarily unconscious and preventing her calling for assistance.

A coal oil lamp was found overturned on the floor but it had not been ignited. The chimney of the lamp was smashed. From this evidence, it is believed that the aged woman attempted to light the lamp, and in doing so it overturned spilling oil on her clothing. In some manner, the match ignited the oil and instantly she was enveloped in flames.

    BORN IN WOOLWICH

Born in Woolwich township, Feb. 10, 1855, Mrs. Fink was predeceased by her husband ten years ago. She is survived by three sons, William, at home, Henry of Hanover, Charles of Doon; two daughters, Anna at home, and Mrs. Lillian Miller of Wellesley, one sister, Mrs. Gustave Miller of Brantford and 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Public funeral service will be conducted from the family residence at 2 p.m. Thursday to St. Paul's Canada Lutheran church for service, at 2: 30 p.m. Rev. W. Schultz of Philipsburg will officiate. Interment will be in the cemetery adjoining the church.
