Passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 27, 2008 at St. Mary's General Hospital after a brief illness at the age of 82.

Beloved husband of Marion (nee Neeb) Lindner for 58 years. Loving father of Susan Salmons (Jerry) of New Hamburg, Sandra Hughes (John) of Waterloo and Bruce Lindner (Jane) of RR #1 Gadshill. Dear grandfather of Kristy Sawatzky (Matt), Julie Schmidt (John VanGemeren), Spencer and Elizabeth Hughes and Emily, Kurt and Abby Lindner. Great-grandfather of Alex, Natasha and Tyler Sawatzky.

John lived most of his life on the family farm at RR #1 Gadshill. He was a past member of the Gideon's Bible Society (Stratford Chapter), and Christian Businessmen International. John was the Warden of Perth County in 1983 and Reeve of North Easthope Township from 1979 \endash 1989 and was an avid sports enthusiast.

John's family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Tuesday and 10-10:45 am on Wednesday at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. John's funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 in the chapel of the funeral home.

Interment will take place at St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery, North Easthope Township at 2:30 pm.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Gideon Bible Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
