    Notes:

    John J. Jurchuk of 89 Mount Hope St. died Thursday at his home following a heart attack. He was 53. A native of Kitchener, he was the son of Mrs. Harry Jurchuk of Kitchener and the late Harry Jurchuk. Mr. Jurchuk lived in the Twin Cities all his life. He as a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and employed with Sunar Industries Ltd. for more than 30 year. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, the former Irene Giese whom he married in Linwood in 1941; three sons, Harold of Kitchener, Glenn of Crosshill and Don of Vancouver; there brothers Peter and Stanley of Kitchener and Frederick of Lambeth, Ont.; two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Helen) Dahmer of Kitchener and Mrs. Daniel (Anna) Narepecka of Toronto, and five grandchildren. The body will be at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Vernon Cronmiller will conduct a service at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Monday. Donations to the St. Mark's memorial fund or the coronary care unit of K-W Hospital will be accepted as expressions of sympathy.

    Inquest Into Bruno Giese Death Arranged For Week From Tonight

    LINWOOD, June 26. The inquest into the death of Bruno Giese, victim of an unusual accident on the C.P.R. at Wallenstein station, will be held a week from tonight at seven o'clock at the Wallenstein station, Coroner. Dr. Stewart announced.

    The late Mr. Glese was born Dec. 10, 1886 at Breslau, He moved to Hawkesville shortly after his marriage to Clara Duench on January 27, 1915, Subsequently they moved to near Linwood where he farmed for ten years. Two years ago the family came to Linwood.

    A tragle coincidence in connection with the death is that his own father, the late Reinhold Glese, also met a violent death, being killed in 1909 while cutting down a tree in a bush near Breslau.

    He is survived by six sisters in addition to his family of nine children. They are, Lena, Mrs. Wm. Reynard of Owen Sound, Mary. Mrs. Carl Schaefer of Kitchener, Emma, Mrs. Wm. Schaner of St. Jacobs, Edith, Mrs. Wm. Zinn of Sparta, Laura, Mrs. Alvin Kesselring, Kitchener and Elizabeth, Mrs. Jacob Wagner of Kitchener.

    The funeral will be held on Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at the residence with a German service followed by one in English at St. Peter's Lutheran church at 2.20 o'clock. Burial will take place in the adjoining cemetery.

    LINWOOD, May 18. - Mrs. Clara Giese died suddenly at the K-W Hospital last night. She was the widow of Bruno Giese. Deceased was a daughter of Mrs. Mary Duench, R.R. 1, Wallenstein, and the late Stephen Duench. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church.     PRESTON - Peter Stadnik, 83, well-known Preston resident for the past 28 years, died suddenly at his residence, 361 Hespeler St., early today. Ailing since Christmas with a broken ankle, Mr. Stadnik had been only seriously ill since Sunday. He was born in Poland and came to Canada in 1907, residing in Kitchener until making his home here. A furniture finisher he had lived retired for 18 years. His first wife predeceased him in 1933 and in 1934 he was married in Preston to Jennie Stadnik.     KILLED BY FALLING TREE

    Reinhold Giese, who resides near Breslau, was almost instantly killed on Tuesday afternoon by being struck on the head by a falling tree. The deceased along with his son Bruno and S.G. Gole, were engaged in felling trees in John Gole's bush during the afternoon, and while cutting a large tree, the heavy wind blew it down unexpectedly in the opposite direction it was intended. Mr. Giese ran in the same direction as the tree fell and was struck on the head with great force rendering him unconscious . Dr. Honsberger of Berlin, was summoned but the injured man died a short time after his arrival and an hour and a half after the accident. There were no external injuries, death being due to concussion of the brain. The deceased had recently sold his farm near Breslau and intended moving to the Northwest. He was about 60 years of age and leaves a family of grown up children.

    LINWOOD, Oct. 16 - Ill ten weeks, Stephen Duench, who observed his 70th birthday only 17 days ago, passed away at his home here yesterday. He was born at Hesson Road and was married in 1891 to Marie Schlueter. Deceased was widely known in this locality, having farmed here for 27 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

    Surviving are his widow, six daughters, Emma, Mrs. August Schneider, Hawkesville, Hilda, Mrs. Edwin Hackburt, Hesson Road, Clara, Mrs. Bruno Giese, Linwood, Miss Louise at home, Miss Irene of St. Jacobs, Miss Laura in Petersburg, and five sons, Aaron of New Dundee, Charles and Andrew at home, Norman in Heidelberg, Albert of New Dundee. Two daughters predeceased him. Twenty-five grandchildren and two brothers, Louis Duench, Hesson Road, and George of Erbsville, also survive.

    The funeral will be held Friday afternoon with a short service at the home at 1: 30 o'clock and thence to St. Pater's Church here for services at 2 pm. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. W. Shcultz will officiate.
