Death of Mrs. Edward - Former Popular Resident of This Community Passes in Toronto - It was with sincere regret that word was received here of the death in Toronto General Hospital on Monday of Mrs. Oliver Edward of near Goderich, whose maiden name was Margaret Mitchell (Marjorie) Lillico, eldest daughter of James Lillico, 9th concession of Blenheim township. Deceased had been ill for a short period only, going to Toronto for treatment about the middle of December, and her sudden passing came as a great shock to her host of friends in this community. Deceased was born on the 10th concession of Blenheim and, after graduating as a teacher, she had charge of the 10th concession school for a period of five years. She then went to the White school for one year, after which she taught at a school near Goderich for three years. Prior to her marriage and removal to near Goderich a little over two years ago, deceased was a valued member of Knox United Church, where she took a deep interest in the various ladies' organizations of the congregation, with her activities being mainly centred in the King's Daughters' Mission Auxiliary and the Sabbath School. She was also a Member of the Women's Institute. Besides her sorrowing husband, she is survived by her father, James Lillico; one sister, Mary, at home, and one brother, George, in Toronto. The funeral will take place from the residence of her father, lot 4, concession 9, Blenheim, this (Thursday) afternoon at 2.30 o'clock, to the Ayr Cemetery.

Demise of Mrs. Lillico - We regret to record the death of Jeannie Dickie, beloved wife of James Lillico, which took place at Galt General Hospital on Sunday, August 9th, at two o'clock p.m. Although Mrs. Lillico had been an invalid for some time, she was enjoying her usual health until about a week before the call came. Born in 1864 on a farm a short distance east of Ayr the late Mrs. Lillico spent her girlhood days in and around Ayr, where her bright and sunny disposition won for her a host of friends. She was married by the holy bonds in matrimony in 1890 to James Lillico of Blenheim Township, and leaves to mourn her loss, besides her sorrowing husband, two daughters, Marjorie and Mary, and one son, George A., also a brother, George Dickie of Portland, Oregon, and a sister, Margaret, of London. Mrs. Lillico was a member of Knox United Church, and as long as her health permitted, was an active worker in the different branches of church work. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon to Ayr Cemetery and was largely attended. The services were in charge of Rev. J. W. Currie.

    Notes:

    Mrs. Dickie's Death

The hand of death has been quite active in our little community during the past week. On Friday morning another citizen in the person of Mrs. Dickie passed away at the ripe age of 82 years and 4 months. As intimated in these columns last week, she was stricken with paralysis a few days previously and rendered unconscious, so that death was not unexpected. The deceased, whose maiden name was Margaret Mitchell, was born in Ayrshire, Scotland, in 1820, and was married to the late George Dickie. Together they came to Canada soon after the union, first residing In Blenheim, where they followed farming for about five years and afterwards lived in North Dumfries until their removal to Ayr some 23 years ago. Mr. Dickie, who was the eldest by about 5 years, predeceased his partner 17 years. A family of eight children were born to them-six sons and two daughters, only three of whom survive, viz., George in Cavalier, N. D., Mrs. James Lillico, Blenheim, and Miss Margaret A. at home. Mrs. Dickie was a consistent member of Knox church for many years and was widely known and esteemed. The funeral on Sunday afternoon to Ayr cemetery was largely attended, the services being conducted by her pastor, Rev. John Thomson, who was assisted by Rev. D. I. Ellison. The pallbearers were: Messrs. Wm. Gemmell, Robt. Murray, Wm. Dickie, Robert Morton, Robert Carrick, Wm. Richmond. In Mrs. Dickie's removal this section loses one of its oldest pioneers-one who assisted in making the country what it is today and her memory will be cherished by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.
