    WITMER, Ralph Ralph Laurel Witmer age 86, passed away peacefully with his loving partner Carole by his side, at the Pinehaven Nursing Home on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Born in Kitchener, son of the late Harry and Alice (Cook) Witmer. Ralph was the manager of the toy department/fish and tackle at Hi-Way Market for 30 years. In his retirement years, he was a tour guide for Lakeshore Tours, where he escorted 80 trips to Branson, Missouri (his 2nd home). He was an avid fisherman and his passion was spending time fishing on his boat in Calendar Bay. Ralph lived life to the fullest, reluctantly retiring when he was 82 years old. His fun loving nature and gentle personality will be missed by all who knew him. Beloved and devoted partner of 18 years to Carole (Gagnon) Hancock. Loving father of Bruce Witmer (Wendy), Kevin Witmer (Cheryl) and Kimberly Witmer. Step-father of Allan Hancock (Rachel), Sara Hancock and Monica Perez (Roger). Cherished grandfather of Beth (Blair), Parry (Nicole), Emily (Joe), and step-grand- father of Brett, Brooke, Giselle, Aidan, Lydia, Justin and Kennedy. Great-grandfather of Max, Tucker, Emilia, Amy, Ben and Elizabeth. Dear brother of Louise Dressler (Howard) and Harold Witmer (Donna). Also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his wife Freida Witmer (1992), sons; Jimmy (1956) and Ralph Jr. (1994) and great- grandson Bruce Joseph Witmer (2012). A special thank you to all staff at Pinehaven Nursing Home for your exceptional care and kindness during Ralph's time there. Cremation has taken place.     Samuel passed away on Sunday, aged 62 years, from a heart attack at St. Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness.

    Survived by his wife Henrietta, his two sons Gordon of Sunnyside and Signalman Lloyd Cook serving with the Canadian Army overseas, and his five daughters, Lillian Abbott (Martin) of Regina, Sask., Vera Witmer (Harry) of Blair, Hilda Cook of Sarnia, Dorothy Watt (Allen) of Hamilton, Gladys Cook at home, and seven grandchildren.

    Samuel had been employed as an engineer at Cluett-Peabody for the past 17 years. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Church and the Grand Union Lodge, I.O.O.F.

    His remains rested at his late residence, 135 Palmer Avenue. Arrangements entrusted to the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where his funeral service was held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Rev. G.F. Barthel of Waterloo officiated.

    Henrietta passed away on Thursday, aged 77, at the home of her son Gordon at R.R.3 Moorefield. She had been ill for 5 months.

    Predeceased by her husband, Samuel, and her parents.

    Survived by her sons, Gordon of Moorefield and Lloyd of Kitchener, and by her daughters, Lillian Abbott (Martin) and Vera Witmer (Harry) of Kitchener, Hilda Cook of Sarnia, Dorothy Thomas (Morley) of Hamilton, and Gladys Schott (Ervin) of Kitchener.

    Also survived by her brother, Bernhardt Strassburger of Preston, and 11 grandchildren.

    Henrietta was a member of Zion Evangelical Church in Kitchener.

    Arrangements were entrusted to the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home in Kitchener where the funeral was held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Rev. E. Hallman officiated.

    Mrs. Henrietta Cook

    The death occurred yesterday after a five months illness of Mrs. Henrietta Cook, age 77, at the home of her son, Gordon C. Cook, R.R. 3, Moorefield. Mrs. Cook was born in Mannheim, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bernhardt Strassburger. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Church, Kitchener.

    Her husband, Camuel J. Cook, predeceased her Jan. 4, 1945. Surviving are two sons, Gordon, of Moorefield, and Lloyd of Kitchener; five daughters, Mrs. Martin (Lillian) Abbott and Mrs. Harry (Vera) Witmer, Kitchener: Miss Hilda Cook, Sarnia; Mrs. Morley (Dorothy) Thomas, Hamilton, and Mrs. Ervin (Gladya) Schott, Kitchener.

    One brother, Bernhart Strassburger, Preston, and 11 grand- children also survive.

    Funeral services will be held at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, Saturday at 3:30 p.m. with interment in Woodland Cemetery. Rev. E. E. Hallman will officiate. The body rests at the funeral home.
