    Suddenly, on Saturday, Jan. 7, 1989, at the Milverton Nursing Home, Chris E. Gerber, of RR 1, Wellesley. He was born in Wellesley township, 70 years ago, a son of the late Daniel Gerber and the late Catherine Erb. He farmed in Wilmot township, retiring in 1973. A member of the Maple View Mennonite Church. Dear father of Harold and his wife Maureen Gerber of RR 1, Wellesley, Doris and her husband Stanley Erb of Wellesley; beloved brother of David and his wife Velma Gerber of New Hamburg, Annie (Mrs. David Jantzil of RR 1, Wellesley, Lena (Mrs. Dan Brenneman) of RR 1, Wellesley, Emma (Mrs. Ezra Brenneman) of Wellesley, Katie (Mrs. Ezra Steckley) of Wellesley; brother-in-law to Edna (Mrs. Sam Gerber) of Wellesley and Laura (Mrs. Dan Gerber) of Nith-View, New Hamburg. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Melanie, Philip and Timothy Gerber, Pamela, Kevin, Jeff, Rosalynn and Christopher Erb. Predeceased by his wife, the former Katie Erb, June 12, 1988 and also by four brothers, Amos, John, Samuel and Daniel and one sister, Mary (Mrs. John W. A. Jantzt). Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, 40 Henry St., Wellesley, where the family will receive friends this evening (Monday), from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon Wednesday, Jan. 11, removal will be made to the Maple View Mennonite Church, for the service at 2: 30 p.m., Rev. Victor Dorsch, Rev. Lloyd Reneay and Rev. Gerald Schwartzentruber officiating. Interment will follow in Maple View Mennonite cemetery.

    Peacefully, at her home, on Thursday, June 12, 1986, Catherine Gerber, of 15 Doering St., Wellesley. Mrs. Gerber was born in North Easthope township 66 years ago. She was a daughter of the late Christian R. Erb and the late Nancy Wagler. She was a member of the Mapleview Mennonite Church. Beloved wife of Chris Gerber of Wellesley; dear mother of Harold and his wife Maureen Gerber of RR 1, Wellesley, Doris and her husband Stanley Erb of Wellesley; dear sister of Dan W. Erb of Poole and Annie (Mrs. Sylvester Martin) of Linwood, Mary (Mrs. John Zehr) of RR 1, Wellesley, Amy (Mrs. Norman Zehr) of Stratford. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Melanie, Philip and Timothy Gerber and Pam, Kevin, Jeff, Rosalynn and Christopher Erb; step-daughter of John and Nancy Nafziger of Wellesley. She was predeceased by one sister, Esther, (Mrs. Amos Steckley). Visitation at the Futher Bros.     Wellesley - Daniel B. Gerber, 83, died Sunday at the Wellesley Township home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Brenneman.

    A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Gerber, he was born in Wilmot Township. He was a member of Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church and farmed in Wellesley until he retired in 1948.

    His wife, the former Catherine Erb, whom he married 1901 in Wellesley, died in 1941.

    Surviving are five sons, Samuel of RR 1, Bamberg, John E. of Wellesley, Daniel of Wellesley Township, Christian of RR 1, Wellesley and David of South Easthope Township; five daughters, Mrs. John W. (Mary) Jantzi and Mrs. David (Annie) Jantzi, both of RR 1. Wellesley, Mrs. Daniel (Lena ) Brenneman and Mrs. Ezra (Emma) Brenneman, both of Wellesley Township, and Mrs. Ezra (Catherine) Steckly of RR 1, Bamberg; one brother, Christian of Kingwood, and one sister, Mrs. Daniel S. Erb of Wellesley Township. There are 35 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. One son predeceased him.

    The body is at the Ezra Brenneman home where the funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial service will follow in Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Bishop Samuel Roth will officiate.

    NAFZIGER.- Nancy, daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Gerber) Wagler, was born Oct. 22, 1891, in Perth County, Ont,, died at her home near Brunner, Ont., Nov. 21, 1979, at the age of 88 years and 30 days. She was a member of the Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church. On Feb. 20, 1913, she was married to Christian R. Erb, who predeceased her Nov. 1, 1920. On Jan. 18, 1925, she was married to John S Nafziger who survives. Also surviving are one son, Dan W. Erb of Poole, Ont.; four daughters: Mrs. Sylvester (Annie) Martin of Linwood, Ont.; Mary, widow of the late Aaron Steckly of Wellesley, Ont.; Mrs. Christian E. (Katie) Gerber, Wellesley; and Mrs. Norman L. (Amy) Zehr, Brunner, Ont.; 19 grand-children; 35 great-grandchildren; one sister Mary, widow of the late Menno Brenneman. She was predeceased by one sister Esther, wife of Amos Steckly, two brothers Amos and Ezra, two sisters Mrs. Noah (Barbara) Erb, and Mrs. Samuel (Katie) Gascho. Services were held Nov. 24, 1979, at the Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite meeting house by Bish. Arthur Gerber and Min. Melvin Jantzi, burial in the adjoining cemetery.

    Historic C.1900 slant-top desk crafted by Waterloo County cabinetmaker Christian O. Gerber (1845-1928, Wellesley Ontario). Refer to Michael Bird's "A Splendid Harvest - Germanic Folk and Decorative Arts in Canada" (1981: p.115, fig. 83). An outstanding example. Pine, grain-painted surface simulating figured maple, cross-banding, and paneling, full-round pilasters ebonized with floral highlights. Said to be the 'the nicest known' example. Condition: Excellent. Untouched original surface. Desk writing surface felt deteriorated. 42.5" w x 21.5" d x 57" h.
